There is a door you can close for that. I keep it open all the time. No issues, unless I know I am driving under heavy rain for more than 30 minutes. Light rain, no issues.
Dealer found the leak and used part number 4467708 to fix it. :( and a /nice/ bead of clear silicone. I have not tested it.

There was another thread where this remove/reboot/re-add reconfigure BT on the headunit and stopped dropping connection. Just a thought - I hope this works for you.
