Been thinking about it and believe it can be done even easier.
PIcture a vise with the jaw open about 0.250-0.375". Stand a 'sit on top' strut channel washer up in that space at about a 45° angle.
Hold the part at that angle with downward pressure on the radius of the washer with a chisel...
I botched the first one with a vise and a ball peen hammer trying to fold it over an 3/32" allen wrench trying to work it cold. It didn't lay flat. Fortunately (for me), I work at a shop that forms metal so mine were done with some dies and a press.
It is possible to get the same results...
For those who are unsure that their tonneau cover brackets will work with the strut channel rails, I've come up with a DIY solution to this DIY mod. Adding to the OP's original hardware list, you'll need one of these no-spin washers for each bracket...
That's my best one yet...not most points but widest. Free range SE Texas whitetail. The rest of my 'trophies' are in the garage just capped. Yeah I'll send you a picture of that mount. My buddy makes them in a few styles.
Thanks man :)
Nope, it's an eight. His g3s are in line with his mains from the top-down angle. You can see the bent in g2 on the right side (his left) is a little shorter...this is that same buck euro'd above my desk...
Hope I don't get busted for this picture...I made this deer dolly to tote behind the fourwheeler so we could roll our harvests up...
...might be a little steeper angle hooking it up to your JT until you get it to your hanging spot, but the physical lifting to get 'em mobile is the same.
Got one of these for places that are 30.06 in TX...fits well under passenger front seat...

Totally understand man. Years back I had a 2002 F150 that died going 45mph, steep 6' ditches on both sides of a two way road. Steering locked up and everything...had to feather the parking brake pedal (not an easy task) to get it slowed down. Knew it was something electrical, so had it towed...
@DaleG
Can you please link the harness you used from Quadratec? I used some generic piggyback harness on my JK and am wondering if what you used is similar....TIA
@ the OP....not bagging on you, but do you trust your cell phone to make calls? Concerns about the reliability of your technology can't be limited to your transportation. I would expect someone concerned by electronic failures and being 30 miles from another human to have an exit strategy. I...
Love my Tyger trifold...I paid $500 for it in June. Looks like it's just under $900 (geez what a difference) now!

Thanks for sharing your experience! Is that camper a 263BHXL?
I rented a 32' Keystone over the summer weighing about 6,000# and took it on a 500 mile trip through the Texas hill country. Had just finished installing a Curt Spectrum, which worked great. When we got back...
