I have this same issue (different place)...Have you found a solution to this?

Roof rack is mopar...quadratec has it rated at 150lbs. Bed rack folds to 3.5” 2x4 height + 1.5” cross bars (5” above bed floor) w/ removal of 4 eye bolts. I needed to be able to haul 16’ 2x4s. And wanted to be able to use roll up tonneau when not in use. Works out to be about 4’ back from rear...

Also had an anniversary on 10/16, but tested out collapsible rack system yesterday...”prototype”...under 3 minutes to lay flat in bed.
