Rug Road is quite a bit more difficult than it was 10ish years ago, but Turkey Creek on the far side has some of the best camping areas that I've been to. Absolutely beautiful!
I have an 08 that I bought with 55k back in 2013. It now has 170k miles on it. The only major things I remember other than routine maintenance off hand was replacing the radiator at around 100k miles and replacing the u-joints and driveshaft within the last 10k miles or so. I've been running a...
I found a place local to me that will rebuild them for $150/shock with a 3 day turnaround (as long as I wait until after dune season). That's the way I'll go since I won't have to worry about shipping.
Timing on this thread was great! I just rolled over 70,000 last week. It's probably time for a rebuild. Shock Surplus sounds like the way to go. Much more reasonable cost than I was expecting. I can drive my JK while I'm waiting.
Agree - Off-road + in 4HI is a drug! I will put it in 4HI/Off-raod + even if I don't need it just for those shift points. It makes flying down a dirt road A LOT of fun! I haven't used Off-road + in 4LO much and don't really think I've missed much.
If you get far enough south, Cloudcroft NM is a pretty cool little town and up in the hills a bit so a little cooler. It's also close to Sunspot Solar Observatory, which is worth a visit. Note that it has been 20+ years since I was went to Sunspot.
I wanted leather, but ended up with cloth. I've been pleasantly surprised with them. They clean up easy and have been quite comfortable. Almost have 60k miles on it now and they still look great.
EDIT - I should mention that these are Mojave cloth seats. I have no idea if they are the same...
My buddy has a Kodiak. It still works with his BackFlip flipped up by the cab (Superduty). I assume the mid size Kodiak would work the same on a Gladiator. For the record, I have a rooftop tent mounted on a DIY bed rack that I use. Love it!
No real answer here other than I saw an Ember in person this past weekend at Costco ($59K) and I liked it a lot. It's a nice RV! I tow a 3000 lb (dry) trailer with my Mojave (it has a ~1200 lb payload - not a lot of upgrades for a Mojave) and would be very tempted by the Ember. Assuming the...
I think you're thinking of the RockyMounts DropTop (RockyMounts DropTop). I have the RockyMounts HotRod and it's great. It doesn't lock, but I keep a cable lock in the bed. Has adaptors for all of the different sized axles and I have a quick release add on as well. Basically fits any of my bikes.
I went from 33 Wildpeak MTs to 35 (metric) KO2s, but on new wheels. I did go with class C because I didn't want the potential harsh ride. Very happy with the KO2s.
