  1. Hatteras/Ocracoke Main Thread

Dang, Jack. That was a nice setup, too. I've witnessed that almost happen twice, once on this trip, and both sharks. The guy this year was close and able to grab it. The one a few years ago was an older gentleman. If his son hadn't been with him (and possibly a track star), he would've lost his...
  2. Diver Down Seat Covers

Mine lasted a little under 2 years. Consistently treated them with UV protectant, but the red turned pink and the material was breaking down at the seams. They looked great for a while, but I did not replace them.
  3. Hatteras/Ocracoke Main Thread

This guy had a bad day. And he's gotta pay to have it cleared...
  4. Hatteras/Ocracoke Main Thread

The start of 10 days at the obx. Couple of days on Ocracoke before moving up to Buxton/Avon. 🤙
  5. Hood edge paint starting to bubble.

That is how it was explained to me when I had mine repainted. AND I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last night. Speculation? I think not...
  6. Hood edge paint starting to bubble.

Happened to my 2020 JTR inside of 10k miles. Both sides of the hood. It is not corrosion or rust. Aluminum panels must be treated with a primer before painting. If not, the paint will eventually bubble due to poor bond. The edges of the hood and hinges are the usual places this is seen bc the...
  7. Is my wife nuts or not?

So is this something that can go bad later? Mine falls under this TSB but I have not had an issue to date, 3 yrs and 60k. Is it a design issue, material issue, or is it some are good, some are bad? I recall a thread not too long ago where someone hadn't had an issue but got the work done anyway...
  8. Squeaking Noise at Low Speed ??

2020 JTR. I don't know when mine first started doing it. It magically quit for a while before starting back, maybe during cold weather, I don't know. One thing I haven't seen in this thread is when I back down my driveway, it doesn't chirp. Only when pulling forward out of a parking space after...
  9. Got a vibration

I developed a vibration at certain speeds a while back as well. Looked at a lot of the things mentioned. Turned out to be a 2-3" gash in a sidewall from a wheeling trip in some rocky terrain. It wasn't until coming off the beach a couple weeks later and airing up that I saw it. And only bc it...
  10. What winch you got, with a twist...?

Need to protect synthetic line from UV light, which will degrade it over time. Depends on winch design. Should use a winch cover if spool is exposed.
  11. Dash Mount - Bulletpoint, RAM Mount, Something Else?

I have Anvil and it suits me. But I haven't loaded it up, and haven't used a different solution to be able to provide a comparison.
  12. Hatteras/Ocracoke Main Thread

@Wolf Island Diver gave a good run down. I'll 2nd him on not using braid at the point. Also, if you end up night fishing there, go with either red or black light headlamp. I can't confirm that drum are light sensitive, but that is the thought, and a bright white headlamp may draw some ire...
  13. Hatteras/Ocracoke Main Thread

No offense taken! Grew up in Eastern NC and always went to the southern beaches. US 64 was a two-lane road from 95 all the way to Nags Head and it took forever to get there. In fact, it wasn't until I moved to VA after school that I started going to the OBX on a regular basis. Back in NC now...
  14. Hatteras/Ocracoke Main Thread

Thanks for starting this thread. I usually do fine at 20-22 lbs. off all the ramps. However, as @Wolf Island Diver said, the sand off the Avon ramps (34/38) is as soft and deep as I've seen. I dropped down to 18. Was just there end of July, heading back for 10 days the beginning of November.
  15. tire options, comparisons

My original Falken Wildpeak MT 35s lasted just shy of 60k miles. They would've easily surpassed 60k if I hadn't gashed a sidewall on my last off road trip. Really happy with them wheeling monthly or every other, several trips out on the beach per year, and otherwise putting a lot of daily miles...
  16. I did a bad thing... a tree landed squarely on the hood and passenger fender

This is kinda what I pictured when I read your original post. If I'm being honest, I was a little disappointed when you described the actual damage. But only in the best possible way. Really though, I'm glad nobody was injured.
  17. I love how the dash turns into a Christmas tree

You filled her up with the engine running again, didn't you?
  18. How do you carry your fishing poles?

The travel tube and/or ski rack works well for freshwater rods, too. Buddy of mine used pvc to make a frame and holders angled back 45-60 degrees that sat in the bed of his truck. Plenty of expensive and inexpensive options.
  19. Uh Oh... Trouble in Paradise.

Common issue ... not a didn't wash your truck issue. Edges on both sides of my hood bubbled within first 6 months. Dealership body shop took care of it under warranty. No issues since.
  20. Ziebart undercoating!

CRC 6026 is great. I apply it every couple of years.
