  1. Second pcm mounting

Just don't put the nuts back on the studs. Mine hasn't had them for 50k or so. The ECM connectors keep it from rattling and it takes all of 3min to swap that way.
  2. Def/Egr/dpf Delete

Pulling the entire exhaust and swapping out for a straight pipe takes an hour, maybe 2, especially at OP's height he wouldn't even need a lift. A couple crossmembers come down and now unused wiring gets tied up. Drain the DEF tank. Reversing the process takes the same. Plus buying some DEF and...
  3. EcoDiesel USA - Reckless Motor Sports

I've been running his files since he started the Gen 3's. Several updates later and they only get more refined (I beta tested earlier files because of how often I travel and passed his shops frequently). So I'm a couple revisions behind what he released at this point, but even what I'm running...
  4. Exhaust Options -- Anyone have experience?

I mean, there are options out there but most people pick them up for additional ground clearance. Sound-wise the muffler doesn't do much after the DOC/DPF/SCR so you won't gain much volume just a bit of drone on the highway. The exhaust is already passing through three different honeycombs that...
  5. Electronic Stop/Start and Turbo Protection

The concern is usually for coking of the residual oil if the turbo is still hot from a hard run. Anytime you shut the vehicle off oil pressure is cut as well while the turbo slows down. The amount of oil the turbo actually requires to lubricate the bearings (especially a water-cooled as the oil...
  6. Nasty Axel U Joint

Is there play in the ujoint? Some grease escaping is normal, those seals aren't truly "sealed" but more of a rubber flap that keeps dirt and water out and will allow some grease to escape if they get hot. Not saying your ujoint isn't borked, it could very well cause your 'popping' but the...
  7. 2021 JTRD Diesel Fuel Filter (Priming after Replacement) CP4 Damage?

I just drop and swap before the lines drain and haven't had an issue yet, she'll usually start in the first couple seconds. Years of wrenching have taught me when it comes to preventative maintenance you get to be clean, efficient, correct; pick two.
  8. EcoDiesel USA - EcoD tuning & downpipes

I put 36k on my truck while running his tuning, been solid so far. Only time i had any real issue was during an early file that didn't like high elevation (first time testing in the mountains over 5000ft) and he overnighted me an updated ECM. So no complaints here, though probably not best...
  9. DIESEL ONLY: How long has your fuel pump lasted?

To be the devil's advocate: 42k-ish with no issues and running just about anything you're not supposed to in the tank. I've run her on 4 year old syphoned diesel out of my dead trucks (in winter), fuel reclaim tank (aka old trans oil, waste oil mixed in from failed heui's), couple extra gallons...
  10. Z96 High Pressure Fuel Pump Recall!!!!!!

Got my email for pending recall ('21) but waiting to see what their fix is. I'm figuring if it's replacing with an identical pump my current is at 45k without issue so not sure I want to make the gamble for one that may fall sooner. Anybody actually able to find the part number they are listing?
  11. Diesel cooling options and ideas

Those are more for flow, which will reduce some heat in that regard, but plastic is a far better insulator than aluminum While not as aesthetically pleasing you could wrap the free flowing aluminum afe pipes but clearances will be a lil tight
  12. Diesel cooling options and ideas

I've never worked on an ISX with an independent radiator for the oil cooler... And they're pretty well buried behind the alternator so not exactly in the path of air flow unless it's in a long nose KW. The exchangers on our lil 3.0l are about proportionate to the 30 less quarts of oil it's...
  13. After cold start steering freezes

The systems aren't a perfect vertical tube, there's cavities where air can trap. There's plenty of gearboxes with bleeder screws at their high points.... But, admittedly, yeah that would mean his new gearbox is leaking at the sector shaft so unlikely, I'm just spitballing.
  14. Green Diesel Engineering or Banks

Mileage updates on key cycle, i don't know the specifics to be honest but any ECM I've thrown in has never changed my mileage. I suspect it's stored in another module.
  15. After cold start steering freezes

What's your fluid level at? Any drips? A small leak will cause some minor aeration that'll self bleed after the pump runs for a minute
  16. Diesel cooling options and ideas

I don't own a trailer so not the best comparison but I've never experienced an overheat yet. Even overloaded through the mountains with tools and gear, my brakes seemed to be the weak link not heat. Factory exhaust has been sitting in the basement since 5k. How high are your EGTs getting...
  17. MRTuning Stage 2 and transmission tune.

You have to drop a crossmember, and if not lifted at least have some ramps, but all in all you're looking at an hour--maybe 2 if you're using hand tools. Honestly hardest part is getting the v-band clamp square on the downpipe. ECM takes all of 3min if you've had it out before (and didn't use...
  18. Catastrophic Oil Leak

You cannot, must be in park for some inconceivable reason it even refuses in neutral while not moving
  19. Vinyl wrap cooking paint?

I just took a vehicle to be stripped from it's vinyls that had been on for 25 years (the vynil shop was not happy about this) and the paint was still pristine underneath. On the other hand I've had decals pulled from 5 year old trucks and the paint underneath was bubbled or completely rusted...
