Father served in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific, Okinawa, not a good place to be at the time.
I'm glad he is gone, he would not want to see where we are today.
Actually, the wave thing was a "thing" in the early70's when seeing another jeep was a VERY rare thing(CJ-5's or old Willis) . That was WAY before jeeps were thought to be "cool"
Where I live today, almost every other vehicle is a jeep so the wave has kinda lost its brotherhood appeal.
But...
I have a Ford Expedition XL....that's like washing a school bus.
Gladiator not quite as easy as my old CJ but still VERY easy.
I guess having no doors reduces the wash time by 40%
Mine can average 23 if kept around 50mph on strait country back roads.
On the beach, <8 mpg
On the highway at 80, 15 mpg
Unless you are making the EXACT SAME trip, with multiple fill ups, at a VERY constant speed, reporting gas mileage is at best, a crappy estimate.
I just will never understand the overthinking the oil thing...
I have NEVER had an engine fail me. And I almost always run them very close to or over 200K before getting rid of them. Between my wife an I we have racked up about 1.4 million miles on our vehicles.
I buy whatever synthetic is on...
I guess I am too old, or owned jeeps way too many years. First in 73. I just don't even want to pretend to understand the duck shift and hope I never meet the person who started it.
By the time I drive to the dealer and back I could have changed my own oil 4 times.
Momma always said, anything free comes with a price.
So I will be skipping the "free" oil changes, "oh, you need new wipers" LOL
Well said...I think where I live aftermarket accessories are just way too much work to be worth it. Luckily, I am OK with plain....other than a bit of lift. cheers.
Yeah, I should have noted. Have had powder coated aluminum parts as well. The paint begins to bubble up on them wherever the bolts attach or any place a small chip shows up.
I am VERY happy to report that in nine months the paint underneath my jeep is still holding up very well. I...
I live at the beach. Almost every morning I have salt on my windshield. So its pretty bad.
I have had many jeeps since 1973 and have probably done over 100 mods to them in total.
EVERY!!! Aftermarket steel piece I have added in all those years has rusted. Some much worse than others. Chromed...
Live in Fl,
Took mine off the day it came home and they will hang in the garage for the next 15 years or so. Gets cool in Jan and Feb so a sweatshirt will do. But I will still stay barefoot since this jeep has a heater that works.
Rain gear cover is my friend.
Just did mine with full 1.5 inch. It does not raise it a full 1.5 inch, maybe one inch.
Looks perfectly level now. I almost wish I had gone 2 "
Took a little over an hour to install. If you had a lift it would be really easy.
No
Nothing. Just a blank screen.
pushing the on button does nothing in those ten seconds as well. When it does come on iget Some safety bs that I have to accept
