As far as Fox, I would run the 3.0s over the Fox 2.5s for high speed stuff. However, I am running the bilstein 8100 bypasses on my JL and I really like that shock, it has more adjustment than the Fox 3.0s. The bilsteins are less money than the 3.0s so I would probably go that route. Both...
I am still very happy with the 3.0s on the gladiator. I ran the 2.5 fox shocks on my JL for a few years and these 3.0s feel like they are better at higher speeds offroad.
Just finished my Gladiator build.
4.5" lift with Metalcloak rear arms and WFO front long arm kit w/ Metalcloak joints
Fusion 72.5" wide dana 60 axles, 5.38 gears with Eaton Lockers
Fox 3.0 Shocks
KMC Beadlocks with Cooper 40x13.50 Tires
Update on the 3.0s. The suspension is getting dialed at the Because Stock Sucks shop in Oakhurst, Ca. Using almost all the shock travel on all 4 corners with about 3-1/2" bumpstop. Front 3.0s are 10.72" travel, rears are 9.42". Metalcloak rear adjustable control arms and trackbar, WFO front...
What model JT do you have? 3.5" of lift will work fine if you have the high clearance fenders that come on the Rubicon or Mojave, if you are willing to do the front fender chop bracket. The Metalcloak 3.5" is a good option, however any complete lift kit with adjustable control arms and...
Depending on how the 2.5" coil is designed (some manufactures assume additional weight from a winch and aftermarket bumper), you may need to install front shock extensions to keep the front shocks in their optimal range. The Mojave shocks only have about 7.5-8" of total travel, so increasing...
I looked at trying to press the bushings out of the stock 2.5s and install in the 3.0s but they would not work. Fox did say that they may work on a hardware kit for the Mojave since the 3.0 would be a upgrade over the stock 2.5s but it would probably be several months.
The upper Mojave shock...
Thanks! The front bumper is a VKS. I haven’t had a chance to drive it on the 3.0s yet because the shop is still finishing up a few things on the suspension. I do however have the Fox 2.5s with the DSC adjusters on a JLU that gets wheeled a lot. They really do make a noticeable difference...
I bought the Mojave for the reinforced frame, hydraulic bumpstops, hood, and the interior. The Mojave shocks are sweet shocks, but the 3.0s also have internal bypass and have a few inches more travel. I plan on selling the stock shocks and coils.
I should have my Mojave build done in a few weeks with 3.0s. Had to replace the upper rubber bushings and machine new steel inserts to accommodate the larger mounting bolt. I should have some decent testing within the next month
