  1. Clutch Recall (2/23/23): Clutch Pressure Plate May Overheat -- Affecting 70,000 Manual Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators

I agree that there are inherent design flaws with this system. I will take the new clutch since I will probably have over 40k miles on the current clutch by January. At some point in the future though, I will upgrade to Centerforce as they have fixed pretty much all of the flaws in the stock...
  2. Clutch Recall (2/23/23): Clutch Pressure Plate May Overheat -- Affecting 70,000 Manual Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators

They are replacing the clutch assembly as part of the recall, but there wasn't any design changes to the physical parts. It sounds like the clutch replacement is being completed for any cumulative damage that could have occurred to the clutch with the current software. The fix is just adding...
  3. Clutch Recall (2/23/23): Clutch Pressure Plate May Overheat -- Affecting 70,000 Manual Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators

The recall schedule was updated in the NHTSA recall document. MY23 should have been notified this week or any day now. I have MY21, so waiting until some time after Jan 2, 2024. Apparently, the fix is a software update that isn't supposed to affect power... not sure how that is possible...
  4. Guys with 37s what wheels are you running?

Are you saying that you fit 37s on stock suspension or that you had stock control arms with AEV lift? Everything I've seen says max you can get without rub is 35s with stock Rubicon (maybe that is considering staying with stock rims at +44 offset as well). Clayton front lower control arms have...
  5. Guys with 37s what wheels are you running?

What lift do you have with yours? When I called Clayton they recommended I go with the 0 offset to be safe. They said +25 offset might be ok and I didn't have an issue with going to the 0 offset.
  6. Guys with 37s what wheels are you running?

Method 705 17x8.5 0 offset with Mickey Thompson Baja Boss 37x12.5R17. Also have Clayton Overland Plus 2.5" lift. They poke bit also have good clearance. +25 offset would probably have some rub.
  7. Chattering Noise when Accelerating Manual Transmission

So only thing with slightly depressing the clutch pedal... The master cylinder has a bleed hole that is open when the clutch pedal is not depressed. It only takes maybe 5mm of pedal travel to close the bleed hole and to start slightly compressing the hydraulic fluid. It is possibly in the...
  8. Chattering Noise when Accelerating Manual Transmission

To clarify, my thought on not hearing it as much in automatics isn't because it never accelerates through 3000 rpm. Just that with an automatic, you are not controlling the rpm sweeps as much as a manual so you may pass through the rpm range that you would hear it quicker... So you may not...
  9. Chattering Noise when Accelerating Manual Transmission

I should clarify that my rattle ended up being valvetrain tick and not the rattle that others with the manual are hearing. I initially thought my noise was possibly related to the manual because of the similarity of the description of the noise. Once I determined that my noise was in the...
  10. Chattering Noise when Accelerating Manual Transmission

I'm probably one of the biggest anti-franchised dealer people out there. The franchise dealership system is set up for the dealers to make money. They will screw the customer and the OEMs every chance they get. Look at the political lobby that the dealership network has... that tells you all...
  11. Chattering Noise when Accelerating Manual Transmission

To also answer your questions... This is an issue on all Pentastar Upgrade Engines. On all Chrysler vehicles. Doesn't matter what transmission either. I want to say the take rate on Wranglers and Gladiators with manuals is probably under 20%. It was 30% on Wranglers about 8-10 years ago, but...
  12. Chattering Noise when Accelerating Manual Transmission

So good news and bad news.... sorry it is long winded. Good news, I picked up the JT on November 28 and the noise was gone. Everything working great. A bit unrelated to the actual repair, I didn't like a few things the Service Advisor did during the repair (i.e. rental car, communication) so...
  13. Engine tick?

I didn't have a CEL for this issue. It was just the obvious tick/chatter noise. I did have a P0304 cylinder 4 misfire one time in early September that did give me the CEL. The misfire was obvious as I was accelerating up a hill in Pittsburgh and had a momentary loss of power. After a few key...
  14. Engine tick?

The calibration change completely eliminated low lift at idle and low engine speed. It was due to customer complaints that they could feel the transition from low to high lift. So no matter the torque demand, it is always in high lift now except for the top gear highway cruising. The high...
  15. Engine tick?

Let's just say, I know some things about these parts specifically. As far as when high lift is active, it is pretty much all the time. There was a calibration change on Pentastar Upgrade a few years ago that eliminated low lift at idle and low speed. So essentially, the only time it is in low...
  16. Engine tick?

I had tick/chatter on my 2021 Gladiator with 3.6L. It wasn't discernible at idle like yours, but clearly audible when revving the engine above 2500-3000 rpm. I just picked up the vehicle from the dealership on Monday and the noise is gone. They replaced the left bank intake camshaft that...
  17. Chattering Noise when Accelerating Manual Transmission

It was definitely the issue. High lift lobe on one follower was worn. Camshaft was still installed so I couldn't see the follower wear, but I'm sure it also has wear on the coating. Mechanic said he has seen many Pentastar Upgrade engines with this issue.
  18. Chattering Noise when Accelerating Manual Transmission

Update on my chatter noise. I had camshaft high lift lobe/follower wear. Both intake camshafts and all followers were replaced. I pick up my Jeep next Monday. The noise I had was very similar to a few posted on this thread, so I think this may be the issue.
  19. Chattering Noise when Accelerating Manual Transmission

So I've been trying a few things to try to figure out the source... The noise is consistent for me. I rev'd the motor to 3000rpm sitting in neutral, clutch pedal not depressed and the noise is still there. it seems like it is quieter but can hear it around 2000rpm and it gets louder as I get...
  20. Chattering Noise when Accelerating Manual Transmission

I can be added to this list for the chattering noise. Started noticing it in the past 4000-5000 miles and I'm just under 24K miles now. Rubicon MT built in June 2021. I consistently get the noise around 3000 rpm and it is most apparent in 2nd gear, but due to vehicle speed/wind noise/road...
