When the JT Shadow Ops edition was first released it listed a 7,750 lbs max tow rating. I asked the same question, what changed from the standard Rubicon to give it 750 lbs more. I was told it was a marketing typo. I tried to find the YouTube video that discussed tow ratings but no joy.
Thanks for the info. My '21 Mojave now has over a 120k on it and a few months ago I stopped buying the cheap local gas with by grocery store discount and I am only running top tier fuels like Shell, ExxonMobil, Phillips 66, etc. I also switched from our regular 85 octane here in Colorado to 87...
AFE now has a JT Mojave specific snorkel which I had Predator 4 Wheel Drive install along with some Rock Hard side steps/rock sliders to make it easier for my 89 year old mother to get in the Jeep.
On a recent trip to the east coast and back I did an experiment after my brothers suggestion I trip a prod7ct called Prolube. The trip to RI I used 151.5 gallons for $694.02. Trip back to Colorado I used 133 gallons for $510.86. Measurable improvement. The route and distance were the same 2,051...

You are correct, a Gladiator has no problem on Black Bear Pass. Switzerland of America takes their Ram 2500's with a 12-seat bed platform over it all the time.
I put 35's on my 21 Mojave with the 4.10 gears and lost 8th gear on the highway. I regeared to 4.88 and got 8th gear back and picked up 2 mpg on the highway and 1 mpg around town and the Jeep drives so much better. I live in Colorado so going a little deeper help compensate for the 7,000'...
Maybe I missed it, but where are you starting from? It's a two day drive from Yellowstone to Mesa Verde for instance, so zig zagging across the country
Maybe I missed it, but where are you starting from? 14 days isn't enough time to zigzag across the country to hit say Mesa Verde and...
Yes, weight is an issue with the Mojave. I am using a Rock Hard aluminum front (and rear) bumber with a Warn Zeon10 winch. The bumper has an integrated skid to protect the shock reservoirs and it actually weighs less than the OEM plastic bumper. I run steel cable but you can save more weight if...
What gears are you running? Your post didn't mention it, but running larger more aggressive tires will effect towing. 7,700 lbs is with 4.10s and stock tires.
I was advised not to use 4WD Auto while off road in my '21 Mojave because the clutch packs will overheat and only use it on pavement in bad weather. So, if I feel I need traction off pavement, I now use 4WD High. My Mojave is my daily driver/overlanding rig, I have an 02 TJ with an Atlas 4 speed...
The actual article says this is a requirement in 2029, not this year or next. Since this is Biden era policy, it may get undone by the current administration
If it has the Max Tow package with the Dana 44s and 4.10 gears you'll be okay with 35s but I think you wouldn't be happy with 37s without regearing. I live in Colorado so I regeared to 4.88s when I went to 35s after installing the AEV lift and the Jeep performs very well other than mileage.
I would love an update on how the 40x12.50 Toyos perform for you. Not my JT, but my TJ has 40x13.50s on Pro Rock 60s and sit 83" wide and most trailers I have borrowed over the years are only 84" wide. I hadn't seen a 40x12.50 before today 😉
I'm not saying you don't have death wobble, but I've ridden in several Gladiators that had lose steering, liked to wander in the lane and feel very unsettled over uneven pavement and bumps, but they didn't actually have death wobble. My 21 Mojave started doing that around 60k miles when I added...
