35 years ago, the MT on my new Dodge Caravan came grinding to a stop on Rte 95 in Connecticut, midnight, 3 friends, boats on top… odometer said 1,999, but it had been that way for weeks (and remained there for another year or two!). Van had been at the dealer to fix odometer and shift linkage...
Still very much "in progress", I have a proof-of-concept door, but haven't figured out the latch. Zip-ties hold it closed for now, but I don't think that's viable long term ;).
And running boards, easy as could be - except for the brackets. Hoping to find something off-the-shelf, but may...
Rare indeed. I had to special order, and wait 9 weeks for a base model. Options were: green paint, trailer hitch, limited slip, and floor mats.
Now I am adding running boards (mahogany) and wood half-doors.
Seats came out easy, tilted out of the way without disconnecting wires. Fob was completely invisible, under a couple wires (photo is after extraction). Inelegant (but I hope effective) fix, passenger side will have to wait;)
Me Too moment: Fob slipped down beside driver seat, and under console. Seat removal day! I'll cover the gap between floor and console with duct tape - a detail that should be standard from the factory ;)
Any pointers on seat removal? Disconnect the battery first because of airbag...
I took out the 60% seat, and put in a box roughly the height of the remaining folded seat. 1/2 ply scraps, to be painted black and carpeted.
Started with 2 sides approx 17 1/2 x40, scribed to fit tight - no gaps at the doors - with 30" long "divider" panel(s) between them. I thought about...
Wish I had a welding buddy !
Can you mail me one of these? ;). Or maybe somebody could just fabricate the base corners and T-joints, ship it with 5' straight tubes, as a kit. .
I might buy this "The Engineers know their stuff" argument, if Jeep didn't flat-out lie in their published specs. This is the table (for my vehicle) that I relied on in purchasing. Look a bit closer at the numbers, and it is clear they don't know their a$$ from their elbow... My bad, for...
Yes, I have the 6-speed manual.
Jrobes, where is that table from? The one I posted was from the Jeep Gladiator Spec website... Note that the Sport/SportS manuals without tow have EXACTLY the same specs --until you get to the last column. Are they saying that adding power windows and...
Got my JT Sport this week, and when I looked at the door sticker, got quite a surprise!
1217 lbs cargo capacity!
I was counting on more payload than my 2006 Tundra (1400 lbs, including driver), and everything I saw pointed to 1600-1700 lbs in the base Sport with the wimpy-trailer-hitch (plus...
Picked up NancyLee, an "eco-green" stripped-down Sport, yesterday. I hope most mods will be varnished wood, possibly moving to a "woody" or even "stakeside" look.
But first, steps/running boards, to please The Boss. I am thinking continuous running boards, pretty low, of oak or...
I pushed “NancyLee” home with my Yaris today!
NancyLee is a Spartan Sport - roll-up windows, manual, I am kinda annoyed to discover controls on the steering wheel and (yuck!) cruise control! Oh well…
I hate having a key fob in my pocket, and am not looking forward to “the brick” (should be getting truck this week!). Wondering about leaving the fob in the vehicle, perhaps in a foil enclosure, with a switch/key on the clutch ground circuit.
thoughts?
I ordered a base Sport on April 19, arriving at the dealer any moment now.
MSRP 36,935, dealer price 35,329.
Rebate $1,000, which the dealer promised (verbally) would be honored. Minus any additional incentives or rebates.
Plus of course taxes and fees 2300 to the governor, and 300...
So my truck is 4 weeks ordered, and somewhere in the queue. Since I can't play with it yet, I am spending WAY too much time on this (and lesser) forums.
Reading about the key fob craziness, it occurred to me, I have no idea how the various doors and tailgate lock and unlock. No power...
