Nope, I didn't do the leveling kit.....not sure if i ever will either. I will admit they look awesome on the jeep and i get complemented EVERY time someone sees me getting out of it.....but i did loose ride quality...the load range E from the load range C is a huge difference.......i didn't...
me too....315/70/17's on my stock gladiator willys.....just search my threads, you will see the pics i posted. i wouldn't run any other tire than that size IMO.....looks the best in stock trim
i fit 315/70/17 under my STOCK willys.....so you will have no problems with the Max tow option. as long as the airdams are removed that are located between the bumper and the fender.
the entire purpose of this is for those that want big tires on a STOCK vehicle. STOCK means STOCK, no aftermarket wheels, or spacers, or lifts, no matter how "small" or "inexpensive" the mod is., once you do a "mod" it is no longer STOCK. you will NEVER replace the OEM quality wheels with...
update with pics...they fit, but do rub only on the front axle control arms. The funny thing is they don't rub every time.....its an intermittent rubbing....but here are the long awaited pics.
now for the bad stuff:
-ride isn't as soft due to the higher load range tires went from C to E
-gas...
I'm an old school guy, back in the day it was always the goal to "fill" a wheel well as much as possible with rubber.....That's the look I've been accustom too....so thats the look I aim for. Also i might do the 1.5" front leveling kit just to eliminate the rake......I used to raise torsion bars...
Well after tons of searching there is no definitive answer if they will fit or not. So today I pulled the trigger and ordered a set of 315's for my willys. I am going to leave it COMPLETEY STOCK.....stock height and STOCK wheels. no one (from my searching) has tried this. I have seen it done on...
i'm curious on how much a 3/4 leveling kit would improve the gap on the front....those 315's on the stock height is exactly how a tire is supposed to look, its in the wheel well and it actually fills it up.....i'm old school and think that tires are supposed to fit inside wheel wells.
I have seen that thread and am a part of it.....most of those guys are running rubicons or mojaves....or if they are a willys they have added a spacer or a lift or something......no one has truly tried just taking off the factory tires and putting on bigger ones.....
I am 110% ok with stretching the tire a little past the "manufacture's recommendations" i just don't want to find out the hard way that i'll blow off a fender under the "right" circumstance....or after the fender gets ripped off the wrong circumstance......i'm ok with a 1' spacer if thats all it...
still waiting for someone to try this with stock wheels.....thats the true test! if 35's will fit STOCK.....stock means stock....not aftermarket wheels.
Does anyone have one they want to part with??? I want to get my hands on one for a 3d printing project to see if I can't get the price WAY down on these!!!
what were your original spring numbers??
Also, I have a line on a set of springs, 439, 440....and 324 and 325....any idea how these would compare or what they would do to my Willys????
So I was starring at the rear bumper of my Willys and I hate that the DOT requires the reflectors....So I decided to make it match the front bumper. I took a simple piece of 3M 2080 vinyl in gloss black and wrapped the reflector so it matches the front fog light bezel trim (also in gloss black...
i'm also curious to see exactly how much lift you get from them and how much the ride will change......the willys package seems like unchartered territory for swapping rubicon parts.
