Itās my understanding that you pay for the Carvana Car up front. If for some reason, you donāt like the car they will refund your money and Iāve read complaints that it can take a while.
I sold a car to Carmax a while back and they didnāt re-title it.
It was evidently stolen and abandoned...
In Maryland, the tax on vehicle purchase is 6.5%.
So, selling a car to Carmax or Carvana for $30k is the equivalent of trading it for about $28k. Plus the hassle of dropping off the car and getting a ride home.
Iāve sold several cars to Carmax and I know people who have sold cars to Carvana...
You donāt have to pay taxes on the sale of a car unless you sell it for more than was paid originally.
However, if you apply a trade to the cost of a new car, the sales tax is reduced.
For example, if you buy a car for 50k, youāll pay taxes on 50k
If you buy a car for 50k and your trade is...
Interesting⦠Here Carvana is offering a lot more than Iāve been offered for trade from dealers. Carmax offers havenāt been quite as good.
In addition to the tax disadvantage, thereās a little bit of hassle associated with selling the car to one place and buying from another.
Carvanaās model...
Iāve found a truck I really like at a dealer about 300 miles away. Itās a leftover ā24, so Iām hoping theyāre eager.
The way I figure it, I could see if my local dealer could do a dealer exchange which would simplify trading my existing ride, or I could try to do a long distance deal and have...
Well, my visit to the distant dealer with the jeep in transit went poorly. 3-1/2 hours of road time yielded nada.
They didnāt come close to matching the trade from the other dealers and they were pretty quick to indicate that they might not honor the trade offer they did make anyway when the...
Well, Iām planning to visit the distant dealer this afternoon.
Iāll try not to let on, but I thought Iād try to strike a deal on this one before it arrives so someone else does.
It happens to have all the options that I want and nothing that I donāt.
Iāve got a bogey in mind and if they hit...
You guys are a goldmine of information. Thanks a bunch!
One more:
Should I wait to visit the āotherā dealer (the one who has the jeep in transit) until they actually have the car on the lot, or is it more advantageous for them to have it sold before it before it arrives?
So, is the consensus that I should make the drive to the dealer thatās got the Jeep in transit, rather than having a nearby dealer try to trade for it? (Even if my nearby dealer seems more interested in dealing)
I share your perspective.
A couple of the dealers Iāve spoken to are in affluent areas. They didnāt seem terribly interested in making a deal. At first it seemed like they were low pressure, but it also seemed that they figured if I didnāt but it, someone else would. Is that it or had they...
When I was looking to order a Jeep, I went to two dealers. They gave me polar opposite stories on the applicability of the employee pricing incentive. There were also other suspect issues.
So, letās say I have a little of a trust issue.
Here, I can get some real world experience from guys who...
Yeah, youāre right.
In my case, the nearest dealer has been adequate for service and went to bat for me for a warranty repair, but their sales department acts like thereās a line at the door to pay full price (maybe there is : )
Iām jut not keen to be that guy.
I found a jeep equipped as I want that being built for a dealer about 50 miles from my hometown dealer.
Iād drive the 50 miles if it means substantial savings, but Iād prefer to show some loyalty to may local dealer since thatās where Iāll go for service.
My guess is that itās always best to...
Well, hereās a twistā¦
I just read about the employee pricing incentive on the Jeep website.
The Jeep website says it isnāt available on Sport models. I was trying to order a Sport S, so that may answer that.
Makes me wonder even more about the dealers who are offering that.
