266 oil temp is very high. Sustained temps that high are not good and will result in engine failure. They may have raised the temp before it goes in to limp mode but that doesn't change the fact that the engine lacks adequete cooling in the JT and therefore its unable to tow on grades when going...
I'm running 17 KMC Machete Crawls now. I could just unmount the 40s and move a set of 42x13.5s to it. It would probably not change anything with turning radius. Then. The 15" wides would look good though!
Treps are 14.5 and the Bajas are 15.5?
I run motobilts fenders already.
I can bumpstop for uptravel, but backspacing is the trick. Keeping turning radius and keeping it from rubbing control arms is important to me. If I go with 3.5" BS Im worried I'll rib. Its close with a 13.5" Wide 40" tire...
Part # 10056032
Its stock WMS. 69".
Dont care about either wheel size. Ill get new beadlocks when I switch tires and sell my existing combo. Which ever gets me in to the offset and tire size I want.
I think the UD60s are stock WMS so I need to find the sweet spot for offset. I could add spacerw later but hoping to find someone who has figured it out.
Hard to see the rear .. coilovers in the back? I assume you had to dial up that preload?
Can you take a pic of a rear coilover so i can see how much thread?
Also, what offset/backspace did you run and are you getting rub on turning?
Thanks!!
Im curious what offset or backspace is best for JTs on 42s or 44s? At this size most everyone is running Trepadors or Bajas which would be what I would get. 17s or 20s are up in the air, and Im running UD60s right now (stock WMS).
Im guessing we need to do some serious offset to not rub on the...
I'm running Evo's Fusion 4.5" with rear 6.5" springs from when I towed a trailer (which I don't now). I could fit 42-43" tires now (have 40s now), but would like to switch out the rear coils for coilovers.
Evo only majes a rear coilover kit that is 3-5" adjustable, so it'll lower my rear a bit...
The fix is simple ... if you're on 4.5" lift height, get 6.5" rear coil springs. You'll need the additional compression to counter the additional weight in the back. I can only speak to the quality of the Evo springs and not other brands. Evo's spring rate seems to be lighter than you would want...
When I reset it, it comes back within a couple days. I have a scanner and all looks good, air, injectors etc.
Checked intake and its sealed and good. Going to pull Map tomorrow to chekc for gunk.
After that it's going to the dealer.
Appears many AFE and other files have run in to this as well. I installed the Hauk snorkel kit. Now I'm having this code pop.
Anyone figured out a fix?
I was hitting 265+ and derates before more often. Now I can hold 65mph with a trailer and sit around 245 oil temps all day long. The bypass setup with a cooler is working for me.
If I was willing to drop another $2500 I could regear from my 4.88 to 4.10s and likely do 75mph with the same temps.
I have no foam, no skids, opened vents and added rams in place of the factory Rubi vents, snorkel to pull air from outside the engine compartment, added an oil cooler using insane diesel's cap, vented inner fenders, and I'll still get to 255 oil temps and 250 engine temps when I run it above...
He's talking about water injection.
It works very well to cool the ambient air as it's entering the combustion chamber. On Diesels it can give you a serious power boost too. I'm not sure it does much about oil temps.
I'm concerned that it'll cycle oil at the same rate as the filter, and potentially bypass the filter based on placement. I believe a larger pan coupled with an oil pump to an active cooler under the bed is the solution. Why? Because an oil pump would flow faster and placing the cooler at the bed...
