The hinge plate itself has a black coating. The door itself is bare aluminum before having the hing plate bolted on. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2023/MC-10234479-9999.pdf

I currently own two WW2 produced jeeps. So not getting rid of all my jeeps anytime soon.

Whatcha getting to replace the JT? New Sierra 1500
  6. Farewell Jeep and CJDR

I still stand by that. Unless your willing to deal with repainting your doors and hood every few years.
  7. Farewell Jeep and CJDR

This ain’t your little cosmetic hinge. The hinge plate starts to bubble in the edge and creeps up on the door panel. Everyone’s Jeep right now if you remove the hinge plate in the door it’s BARE ALUMINUM. Your hood hinges are also like that. So guess what happens when you have bare aluminum...

Yeah. I spent close to 3k upgrading mines with a center force clutch just to get rid of it 6 months later :/
  9. Farewell Jeep and CJDR

The leak is from the plastic window frame cracking. There’s a TSB and updated part number out there. Don’t settle for a homemade fix.
  10. Farewell Jeep and CJDR

I officially got rid of my JT. Nothing but a dealer queen. 3 right axle shafts, rear window leak and scratch up your hard top replacing because of the crap design, slit seat leather from factory, severe wobble when going over bumps. What really put me over the top to get rid of it was finding...
  11. 30K mile JT oil analysis

I wouldn't hesitate it to 15k miles. High TBN isn't really much of focus point with a lot of new oil. I have no issues pushing it to 1-1.5 TBN. There's plenty of off the shelf oils at Walmart that will have less than 3 TBN with as little as 4-5k miles. As long as the wear numbers are good and...
  12. 30K mile JT oil analysis

I've tried to correct the lab as far as the DI labeling. I keep my receipts and always reset the OLM. Real hard to prove an oil related failure.
  13. 30K mile JT oil analysis

Here’s my two oil samples. I only change oil once a year 10-12k miles. I’ve had great results with amsoil signature 0w20 and filter. I wouldn’t hesitate to run this oil 15-18k miles with a filter change in the middle.
  14. How many miles do you change your oil?

Once a year roughly 8-10k annually.
  15. Are we in denial about the factory oil viscosity and grade specifications?

My 21 JT accumulates roughly 8-10k miles a year. It receives Amsoil Signature 0W-20 and filter once a year. All my oil lab tests are fine. People overthink oil. Pick brand and sample it at different intervals to establish a trend. Most name brand full synthetics should be able to perform well 12...
  16. Deeper Gearing For The Manual

OP congrats on the new Jeep! I'm happy you enjoy the stock clutch. The 4.10 gearing MT isn't as bad as 3.73 JT's. If your seriously considering improving you Jeep. I highly recommend Center Force II kit in the near term future. It's like having a whole new vehicle. No need to use gas to roll out...
  17. Clutch Recall (2/23/23): Clutch Pressure Plate May Overheat -- Affecting 70,000 Manual Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators

Hi everyone, I just got my 21 JT back from the shop with a new center force 2 kit. This thing is amazing and can climb a light pole now lol. Overall clutch engagement is super nice. You can feel the hydraulics slave provide feedback on the foot pedal like old school clutches. I can turn corners...
  18. Door Air Leak

The noise is in between the driver and pax window area. Not near the windshield.
  19. Door Air Leak

Hi, I recently noticed an air leak coming from the top left hand corner of my driver side window. As if your looking at it driving. It’s really annoying and right next to my left ear. It’s a slight sound as of the window was closed 95% of the way up. This week coincidently weather had been...
