I've got the Red Rock 4x4 rear rock rails that attach to the stock bumper now
I'm trying to find a bumper that is compatible with the rear rock rails. A bumper that will tie into them. The only one I've found is the Best Top rear bumper.
Thanks for any info,
Billy
I'm looking to get some rock sliders. I thought about making some but I just don't want to mess with it.
I come from a more hard core rock crawling background where I had a dedicated offroad rig.
My question is how strong are the body mount rock sliders? I've always used frame mount sliders...
Finally got back to the bumper. I got sick, then my wife decided we needed to redo the school room and house lights. So I had a few interruptions along the way.
Mounted the bumper to see how it looks. I still haven't done the 2" receiver yet.
I've been thinking about getting it sand blaster...
Work continues...
Ran out of metal, then wire, today I ran out of gas.
But I've got about half of it welded and the other half tacked. I still have a few more 2" pieces to run across the bottom.
Nope didn't do anything to the jeep while welding. I've never had issues welding on my trucks in the past so I don't see it being a problem. I know some people disconnect their ground battery terminal but I don't think its necessary.
Yeah, I'll be chopping the corners. I just figured It...
That's a smart move.
I had some time so I started working on the bumper.
I had to go back to the original design. I was going to relocate my license plate to the tail gate but decided against it. Hopefully I will get some more time this week before I go back to work.
I also bought steel...
I finally got the bumper pulled off today to get some better measurements for mounting the bumper.
I also revised the bumper a bit. Instead of having it taller in the middle where the license plate is I think I am just going to keep the the same height all the way across.
I also went down...
I finished the foam core prototype. I made a small change to the slant in the center to make it easier to fab. I think over all it looks okay.
Now I need to remove the stock bumper and see how this fits and make any tweaks or changes.
Now I need to buy some steel and a whole lot of 4.5"...
Yes, sir. That is the other one I was looking at. If I had the money I would just buy one or the other but I don't right now. I just bought some foam core to start cutting out the pieces.
Are those lights low profile? I really don't like how far out the tail lights stick out. I thought...
That was one of the two that I liked that can't afford. :D
I've done some 3D design just for fun but no training or real experience.
My plan is to just cut the panels out and make a prototype out of cardboard. Once I get it the way I want it I will use those cardboard plates as templates for...
After looking at all the bumpers out there I have been able to find one that I really like that is affordable to me at this time. So I am thinking of building my own. I've done some fab work in the past but this is a bit more complex than other stuff I've done.
The main things I wanted were...
No Max Tow package. I've got some Rubicon wheels I was planning to run with it.
So I may need to add a leveling kit to get clearance.
I've already got the tires which are 315/70R17.
Appreciate the information.
I've got a sport and I am considering doing the rubicon suspension swap. Can I run 35" tires without rubbing?
I did a search but couldn't find a definitive answer.
Thanks,
Billy
