Confirmed the issue was that passenger side drop brackets got misaligned / bent at some point. Can't image how? I only hit 12 BOH trails last year ;)
I reinstalled the bracket hand tight and then torqued the control arm bolts first (jeep on the ground) followed by the frame mounted bolts. Quite...
Issue identified!
I had to let the truck settle in neutral to make this obvious. Any tension from going to park from drive or reverse kept me from being able to move the passenger upper control arm but that was the culprit.
so I have Rancho’s drop brackets and torquing the upper control arm...
Well I couldn’t find a single loose bolt within the control arms or brakes. Checked the body mounts too and I didn’t torque them for fear of breaking but they were not loose.
the only appreciable movement I can see other than springs is the track bar and drag link rotating.
given the fact that...
I had not considered the brakes but after searching it looks like a somewhat common issue with TSB so I’ll check them all tomorrow. Finally have time to get under it in the garage tomorrow.
I’m not driving until I figure out what’s causing this. I mostly want to eliminate that it’s part of the...
Finally had some time (albeit in the dark) to have my wife rock the jeep back and forth while I took a look. I could not see anything in the suspension moving other than the drag link / track bar pivoting.
The clunk is very notable in this video but sounds like it’s closer to the differential area.
Okay, sorry for yet another thread about clunking and popping noises but none of the other threads seem to mirror what I am seeing.
This started around 15K miles over the Summer and has recently gotten much worse at 19K and now that it’s much colder.
22 SS Max Tow with Rancho lift springs up...
After some more troubleshooting, there is something strange going on.
Within a second or two of of pressing the brake the driver taillight goes out. It does work for a second after clearing the following code
B1642-11
I also verified that the turn/brake lamp power wire provides power after...
I've had aftermarket LED tails for a year (Winjet) with no issues until last night. The tail/running and reverse lights are working but the brake and turn signal lights are not. I reseated the connector to the housing a few times with no change. This is 2022 that had OEM halogens but I did...
Well I measured everything and both front and rear were sitting an inch higher on the passenger side.
I couldn't find anything out of place or misaligned so I said the hell with it and put my front control arm drop brackets on. When I got done it was obvious that the sag was nearly gone and...
I installed Rancho's leveling kit RS66127BR9 up front along with some 3/4" spacers and Rancho 9000XL shocks in the rear to match the front.
I did the rear first and the truck truck looked pretty level side to side, at least not enough for me to notice. After finishing up the front I...
I have to agree with you here. I didn't worry about it too much about it since I will be switching bumpers in the next year or two. If I was leaving it on long term I would probably get the Mopar pieces.
That said once installed the McMaster parts work great functionally and I covered...
So the nutserts from McMaster worked fine but I would suggest getting a wrench on the back side of them when using an impact.
The metal was soft enough that I had two of them "round out" and had to extract them. I had a third start to, got a wrench on the back of it and worked great.
All in...
Yep the plastic version w/o bumper attachment holes.
Thanks @Wet Willys and @jebiruph, Even after shipping that 10 pack should save about $30 versus the dealership parts.
I considered using a nut and bolt at each location but it would really be a pain to get a wrench behind the top bolts. If...
My dealership said Jeep has transition issues every model year and the ordering process can be ambiguous the first month or two. You would think they would have things worked out by now.
I was waiting for this to drop. You have to listen to the podcast to get his real opinion on a vehicle but as always, this made me laugh. This is also the 3rd vehicle I have owned which Mr. Regular has reviewed and minced.
My dealer is 10 minutes away so not a big deal. Agree with it not likely being an issue elsewhere on the truck but it does beg the question, how did that pass QC? Having worked in automotive manufacturing as a Quality Engineer I find it hard to believe they don't have gun torque of each bolt...
