Couple more questions... and if you're tired of discussing feel free to tell me to pound sand.
First, why don't you want to keep the springs? Is it due to the difficulty getting caster where it needs to be? I'd think you could just go with 2" Synergy rear springs and call it a day.
Second...
Thanks for sharing and glad you got it back together and functional.
My front end is a little heavier given I have a winch and the aux battery. With the 8863-30's in the front and Clayton 1.5s in the back, it sounds like I'd have a little more rake than you, and I do want a little since I'll...
I don’t know what your upper lengths should be, but yes, increase lowers or shorten uppers to increase caster.
I’m curious what your alignment sheet said last time. It’s hard to imagine 5-6ish degrees caster if your uppers are longer than stick unless your lowers are way longer than stock...
I do wonder what Synergy would say about that, but I'd probably just go for it and see how it does.
Assuming nothing comes into contact that shouldn't on full compression, is there anything else that would be a legit issue?
I've got the 1.5 Claytons for the rear as well. Depending on the rake (or lack of), I also have a 3/4 rear spacer I can add if needed. Front is a steel bumper, skids and winch.
I'm at least a few weeks away from being able to do the install, so I'm eager to see how your ride is and what your...
I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out for you as I have Clayton rear springs sitting in my garage now (wanted stiffer for my towing) and the 8863-30 Synergy springs arriving tomorrow. I do have a little more weight in the front, but not much.
Also, their product page does...
That's good to know. I was considering the Clayton fronts just because they're a little cheaper and I'm confident I could get the right size, but I also want my wife to be willing to ride in the JT with me.
I'm guessing the 8863-30 Synergy springs would be fine with the 1.5 Clayton rears...
@dayusmc Did you get the Synergy front springs installed? I've got the Clayton 1.5" rears in a box in my garage and am debating on 2" or 3" Synergy springs for the front. I'm curious to hear if the 3" level it or if there is still a rake.
Thanks. Your JT looks great!
Great advice in this thread.
* Removed all of the bolts except one of the horizontal 10mm bolts at the end
* Supported the opposite end with a jack
* Used zip ties to hold the base plate at 90 degrees and attached it to the frame
* Put a block of wood in the back, snipped the zip ties and then...
Meant to post this here.
Joined the extrusion club. I'm just starting with the basics because you know... need a way to hang those Christmas lights. :)
The real plan is to build it out more to mount and transport camping gear for trips with my kids in the spring. Right now having fun...
If I had the time, I'd have gone with a Sport S and upgraded the suspension, added a locker, etc. However, I'm at a point in life with not a lot of extra time so I went with the Rubicon since it has most of what I want plus some out of the box.
I did upgrade to 35s, added a winch (and 1" front...
Interested in hearing what you learn. I've got a cart just about ready to go, but I need to think a bit more about how I want to configure things so I can maximize what I get for the shipping.
I emailed Renee at the start of the process and she had me email Matt in the service department. I told him the tires I wanted, he got a price, I confirmed and that was that. They were installed and the speedometer re-calibrated by the time I arrived to pick it up.
Just took delivery of my Gladiator today at Gupton and I will say it was the best car buying experience I've had to date. I ordered on 1/11 and am very happy with the timeframe. Renee was nothing but helpful throughout the process and even better in person.
