As others have said, step 1 is always getting your free quote from Carvana, Carmax, and Autotrader/KBB. Then look at comp listings in your local market. Go from there
Help me understand the logic here. If you're currently upside down, getting rid of the car doesn't magically solve that. You will still owe the difference of the loan amount to the current value. Do you estimate that by 70k miles you'll be at a breakeven point? Also worth considering that by...
The question is always, under what conditions will you be towing? Constantly climbing 1,000's of feet in altitude in Colorado during the summer? Might feel it a bit.
Here's what you're not getting:
- 240A alternator
- Extra engine cooling
- Hitch zoom on the backup camera (useless)
- Trailer...
Tongue weight impact on payload should also be considered. It's not just "trailer weight" vs "max tow capacity." And with the Gladiator you will always run out of payload before you run out of trailer GVWR.
Like other's have said, empty the tanks in the camper, remove as many heavy items forward of the trailer axle as possible -- and remove anything you have in the truck bed and cab; do it without a passenger. It should be fine
Extended will increase torque lever arm force (not good). I also had to use an extended with my JL + teardrop. But JT + travel trailer, no extension needed. The joys of having a "truck" :CWL:
Gorilla glass here that was severely pitted after years of cross country driving. Was in Breckenridge last winter and had the windshield covered with one of those frost guards. After a snowy, icey night went to take it off in the morning and SURPRISE new u-shaped crack right across the ACC section 🫥
Get your setup weighed at a CAT scale, that way you'll know for sure how much weight is getting put on each of the Gladiator's axles. WDH will help a ton with crosswinds and it doesn't hurt to put that extra 15% weight on the front axle (better steering) as long as it doesn't push you over any...
These original brakes have 46k miles over 3.5 years and we tow about 60% of the time including mountain driving. We’ve been losing brake pressure (spongy pedal feel) and before removing the wheel it seemed like the pads were low, and the rotors very lightly scored.
Yet the pads measure 10mm...
Traditional rental car companies don’t allow towing with their vehicles, it would have to be a U-Haul and if its an 8 hour drive that means a lot of $$ in mileage charge.
Really comes down to tongue weight. Keep the truck bed and rear seats completely empty, one passenger for assist should be...
Nice! Well done mate.
Did you use a WDH? I feel like anything over 4k#, it becomes a bit of a sway concern.
The v6 will get you there - it’ll dog, but it works.
Congrats on the first tow. Spot on reactions, the Pentastar is a screamer in general but you should hear it towing 4k# up the continental divide in 2nd gear :whew:.
Are you at 4.5k# wet or dry? Guessing that's fully loaded since the Escape 21 is 3.5k# dry right? We found the Andersen WD hitch...
Interesting they decided to intentionally show it in the cold/winter. We love our X4s but it does not perform in the snow. Once temps drop, its impossible to roll open without potentially causing damage and the official word from BAK is "don't use it in freezing temps."
Curious if this model...
Seriously.. Keep going back and forth in thinking it was either an unhoused person or someone that really knew what they were doing. When we reconnected the battery the alarm did not go off which makes me think they did this step first before getting to the truck bed in case it may have set off...
Thanks Hootbro, you're the MVP here posting detailed stock specs. Funny how noone thinks about cataloging this kind of shit until you really need it and then can't find a reference.
That's correct, comprehensive covers vandalism and malice with signs of forced entry. Gotta file a claim which still goes in CLUE and counts against you towards earning accident forgiveness with Progressive, for example (our 5 windshield repairs show up there too). Storage insurance should cover...
Howdy y'all. Somber day today, we woke up to an email from our RV storage place saying they logged an "incident of vandalism." They left the hood open and tonneau cover unfolded/warped. One of the pictures was of the battery area and it looks like they angle grinded, bolt-cuttered, or plierd off...
