For those interested - disconnecting both the merlot and dark pink cellular connectors on the back of the radio will still allow limited connectivity to SXM Guardian/ATT. Albeit, very slow and limited without the antenna. So this is not fool proof.
For those thinking of exploring their rights...
Since this thread got bumped, I thought it would be beneficial to provide an update for the next guy searching.
I ended up going with Rancho RS9000XL shocks. I have about 7 months on them now and a few major road trips around the east coast. For the price, I have zero complaints. All in I paid...
Used, like new Truxedo Sentry CT Tonneau Cover for Jeep Gladiator, part number 1523216. This is the fabric covered, hard rolling model. Extra security!
Used for a few months, excellent condition. Installs with or w/o trail rail cargo management system. $1049 new, asking $500 picked up in...
Flatlink is the Warn Epic Sidewinder
Fairlead is the one that came with the Warn EVO winch
Plate mount is from Cascadia 4x4, It's called the 'Flipster v3'
I would do it all over again the same way, but would probably go with a cheaper/slimmer flat link. I didn't realize how THICC that Warn one...
Mine started to rust within a week of installing it. Mostly around the four bolts that secure the bumper and hooks, and also the hooks themselves.
This was where the paint was rubbed off on install.
I’d recommend spraying/coating the bolts with some plastidip to keep the oxidation at bay. I...
Fair point. I thought the stock overland shocks were anything but controlled. More like a bowl full of jelly wobbling and wallowing down the road.
I ended up with an Overland specifically because it was offered to me at ~$10,000 below MSRP, when all other available Gladiators were $2-4k above...
Good recommendation. I've been seeing them at around 2k, was wondering if they were worth it at that price, considering the additional cost of sleeving the shock bolts.
Anecdotal experience? They are one of the few options actually available to order.
I'm thinking the same thing on the Rubicons after my latest 16 hour road trip. Although they look better, that wasn't my main reason for putting them on. I was hoping for improved ride quality, but secondarily I live right next to the Chesapeake bay, and the air/water is very salty. Secondary...
What do the masses think is the best suspension/shock choice for the below scenario?
Scenario:
I have an Overland. Currently it is sitting on a teraflex 1.5" level with factory Overland springs. I have added Rubicon take-off FOX shocks and a falcon adjustable steering damper.
I do not plan...
Drive a ford 10 speed, and you’ll wish it had a ZF. Absolute garbage ;) One of many reasons I ditched my Raptor. ZF makes fantastic transmissions, have had ZF in almost every car over the past 5 years and they rock. Even the ZF in two BMWs were fantastic.
This might be one of those can of worms type questions... but... what does the general populous feel are the 'must have' skid plates to add or upgrade?
I don't have a great anecdotal story for or against a winch. I just put one on the Jeep this past weekend. I don't know if I'll ever go off-road deep enough to really need one. My use case is more peace of mind as I live in the middle of nowhere in the woods. Trees fall all the time...
If you ever make it down to Fredericksburg VA area, or east of there I'll take them off your hands. I don't know the next time I'll make it north of DC. ;(. Shoot me a PM.
I agree with this. My Raptor had the worst seats of any vehicle I’ve owned. Partly why I moved on from it. That and the transmission was horrible. In fact, I haven’t been able to find a Ford seat I can get comfortable in. I’ve tried, hence why we’ve had 4 Jeeps/Rams.
