I made my own front and side rails using the spring nuts to hold the chock pieces in place and I attached the U channel pieces using existing holes in bed. i haul a MX dirt bike, G/F and mine MTB's and my '05 Victory Vegas using the thing to chock the front wheels (of course I use tie downs as...
Glad goes in this Friday for the SECOND E brake replacement!!!!!!!!!!!!! (yep the whole E brake assy gets replaced AGAIN!!)
Called the dam Cust service (Stellantis or whatever the hell it is) and said this is BS (told them I was gonna file a NHTSA ticket and provide all the dealer tickets/etc...
Took my '23 Gladiator to the dealer about 9 months ago as the jingling was occurring the minute the brake was released and all the way until its down. they replaced the "whole brake assy" (I asked to see it and when I shook it the innards were definitely the jingling!!). Now it is doing it again...
Finished the last bit of debadging the Sport. Tailgate was this W/E.
Here are some pics. (I used some door panel clips, painted to match color, with some rubber grommets inside tailgate to hold them in place)
I guess during the tailgate logo design mtg everyone was asleep when the level 1/2...
I like making simple things so here is my simple solution.
The last pic is the Princess (55lb) loaded for a trip to Chik-Fil-A or DQ!!
For long trips we put down a bed comforter on top of the moving blankets.
For those of you a bit timid about loading I had G/F take some pics of key points of the loading. As you can see your feet can be on the ramps all the time and you can "walk" your bike up. I just ride it up but I've been doing this a long time and with a dirtbike as well. Oh and the ramps are 8'...
Biplane,
You just lift the tailgate release and they pop free! Never had a problem with my Frontier using them. And there only there as a secondary stress support (I don't trust the engineering reports that the OEM straps are rated at 500lbs each (as was the same for all my Frontiers). Never...
If you are on flat ground with those arched ramps (there like 9' long) it is basically like riding up a small hill PLUS there is plenty of room to "also" walk your bike up the ramps with both feet down (unless your a midget:))
BTW, total cost was ~$280, used all new steel (had flat stock and screws/nuts)(and $80 of that was for my neighbor doing the welding).
I'm pretty sure the Neo-dyne ramp thingy is way more than that??
MM,
Ramps are arched and I've used them a ton when I had my Frontiers ('08, '16 (POS), '19, '22 (POS)).
If your talking about the flat bridge plate I originally pulled up the tailgate mat when measuring/welding/assembly and at checkout time decided to put it back. Angle doesn't affect nothing...
Decided over my XMAS break to put the drawings to reality (I haven't seen any threads where someone got a full size cruiser in the bed).
Had the neighbor weld up all the metal and then loaded the bike. Yes, there is a bit of over-engineering but we plan to go to Sturgis one year and hit some...
Seat Savers (slip overs). Been using them for a gazillion years in every vehicle I've owned!!!
I can personally guarantee you that you can climb in all stinky/dripping wet and they don't let anything go thru and they don't smell even afterwards!!!!!
I also have a mod to them that keeps them on...
Anybody got any touch up paint recommendation for the fiberglass top?
Got a few spots where road debris has nicked the factory paint off.
It looks to me like some kind of "satin" paint would work but just wondering if anybody has some paint knowledge to share.
taz,
You can make your own using a variety of items!!
I'm currently working getting my Vic Vegas in the back. Got the helpers made (pic attached) now working on platform design to extend the bed length to about 85"
T,
You do know that there are 2 little "hooks" on each end of the tailgate (bedside that is) that you run the cable around and it holds the tailgate up about half way???? I believe it is shown in the manual (you know that thing that nobody ever reads!!).
Finally got around to installing the DIY bed rails after the LineX got done. Tonneau cover was just a bonus.
Yep, the rail system is used for dirt/street bike and bicycle hauling. i kept my Frontier cleats (not shown) to use on the side rails when I haul the street bike.
