Ford used to include a block heater in every diesel. With the 2017 year model, they started including them only in vehicles that were shipped to 8 different zones, all of which were cold weather areas. I know this as I bought my ā17 F250 in a warm climate area, then a few years later moved to a...
May have always been, but doesnāt make it right. Other vehicle manufacturers are able to make it work. It is my opinion that a block heater should be part of a cold weather package and Iām willing to pay for it up front.
I have read, and been told, that they stopped including the heater due to parts shortages. I did not mean to imply that a dealer should install it at their expense. Jeep should allow for the option to be installed at the buyerās request if the vehicle has a cold weather package or simply include...
Block heater came on at 4am and I unplugged it at 8:30am. Truck started as usual and the temp gauge showed just slightly higher than bottomed out. Air from the vents was slightly warm and warmed up quickly. When I put it in gear it sounded normal, unlike the past few days where the engine...
Iād be willing to bet that the thread-in block heater for the ā22 Gladiator (or earlier) would probably be an exact replacement for the installed block plug in the ā23. Not sure why they changed the heater other than to make it easier to install, but the brass plugs Iāve seen from the earlier...
You understand correctly. The block still comes with a brass plug installed but the new style heater slides into a hole in the center of the brass plug and a metal clip holds it in.
1. Jack up the R/F and remove the wheel.
2. Reach in with the heater and insert it into the brass plug until it clicks and is seated firmly.
3. Reach in with the cord and plug it into the heater. It only goes one way.
4. Route the cord up to the front bumper or wherever you want it.
5. Put...
I just installed it. It does not drive through it. It heats up the brass plug. It seems far less efficient than the heater that touches the coolant. I havenāt used mine yet. I tested it but thatās it. As far as the "extension"-looking part, itās just hourglass shaped. The middle section just...
I think so. Itās listed for the ā23 but I donāt see it listed for earlier models. The question would be if the factory brass plug for the ā23 is the same as previous year models, or if it was modified for ā23 and this part only fits in the ā23 plug. I donāt know.
I just went through the same thing. That part (68523853AA) is not for the gas engine. You insert it into the brass plug that is in the block. It fits perfectly and clicks when itās fully seated. No need to drain coolant or remove the plug. I scratched my head for two days and almost sent the...
