Got my son a 4 door JK, 2" lift with 35" tires when he turned 16. Responsible kid and he did fine. The wider 35x12.50 tires worked great because when he would hit or rub another car - tires took most of the impact. Better yet, got him a truck for college and I kept the JK.
I have the EZ top now for about 6 months. Its easy to operate. Panels are secure when open and actually get less banged up from taking all the way off and storing in the bed, bouncing around. The clamps that hold the panels in place when open have rubber so no scratching and hold tight...

I did use the winch plate that came with the knock off. It was pretty stout, seemed as thick as other ones on the market, and bolted directly to the frame. Feels safe. Guess, if there is ever an issue, I could switch it out for a more expensive plate.
