Update... since August,.. I didn't make an appointment at the dealer because I fish a lot in the fall and I figured I can take care of the gauge issue in Nov., Dec. when im done towing my boat. One morning, the remote start didn't work, I tested the batteries and had a bad starter battery under...
When I used to work on VW TDIs, they had the fuel coolers. I never really knew why back then, but you answered that old question, and it makes total sense. Regardless, even after my issue is repaired, I will fill up around 1/4.
It could also be something like the sender float catching up on...
I have been using my gladiator to to a 20 ft center console boat, and it pulls it with out any problems. I moniter the trans temp and it never goes above 1/2. It does get a little fuel thirsty , but that is expected. It could just be a calibration issue, but that is good advice for the 1/4...
Hello All..
The other night I was running to the store, and was about to hit 450 miles on a full tank. The guage was reading around 1/4 full, then it died. Ran out of fuel. Luckily I was real close to a gas station, got 5 gallons, did the procedure to prime the fuel system, then I was running...
After by concern about the auto start stop and posting this thread.... original owner installed a by-pass. 😁
Tomorrow is a big test, towing home a boat, after owning my willys for a week, I'm sure it will have no issues!!
Delivered today! Tires are scrubbed but I can deal with the tire noise until I replace them. I Did about an 80 mile shake down after filling the tank and adding hotshot. Fuel filter is on order. Ran like a champ. Glad I waited!
I have seen dirty filters cause power issues, idle fine but under load it felt like a miss fire. (VW pumpe duse). It would not turn the CEL or store faults.
Hello all...
My Gladiator gets delivered on Saturday. I was going over it's features and I saw a button that cought my eye... found out this vehicle has the auto start/stop feature which seems like a horrible on a diesel. Nothing sez ware out a starter like a million start / stops on a high...
Man!! That's nuts!! I wonder if it's a skill set thing, or they hate diesels. When I take mine in for the fuel pump recall, I'm definitely making marks to make sure it's done and not thrown at the bottom drawer of a tool box. Disclaimer: there is a lot of very smart and talented techs out there...
Howdy,
It has been 6 or seven months since this post, what was the corrective action for the CK ENG MIL?
How long did it take for the MIL to come on after the dealer visit?
I read this and I find it frustrating - any car going into limp mode, then clearing the faults and being told to drive it...
One thing I remember about the common rail diesel vw used after the pumpeduse, was the exhaust flap that would close, and revert the exhaust back to the secondary egr or canisters ( OR where ever it went ). New England winter road salt destroyed those things. Sorry to hear your car got totaled...
Good advice. Biodiesel... I remember early 2000s people were modifying there ALH vw diesels for running on cooking oil ( fryalator oil), if they didn't process it correctly or cut it with diesel fuel, it clogged like a bad artery. I'm sure the technology has improved since...
Thanks for the info, I agree that 10k is too long. If they are hitting 200k then I'm happy with my choice. I remember older VW diesels ( when I was a tech) hitting the 300k mark, and that was with conventional oil at the time. Some did have coking issues around the valves.
Have you heard of any...
That milage makes sense. Most likely will do a fuel filter at that time too. Cheap insurance, I have seen what a clogged filter can do. I read a ton of reviews on this engine, lots of praise and lot of haters, including a which-hunt lawyer firm claiming how dangerous they are. Like anything, I...
Thanks! Will do with the recall, and that makes sense with the oil. Even if the oil can handle the 10k, there are still engine deposits and other nasty stuff in the older oil.
