  1. Steel Vs Aluminum Bumper For Exo Cage (Is jeep too heavy?)

Nice! That looks really clean - does it feel as sturdy as it looks? While I know it's not ideal... do you think mouting an exo to that bumper would be even slightly realistic. @smlobx - Thank you so much for the detailed response. I am kinda on board with you around it's already so heavy...
  2. Steel Vs Aluminum Bumper For Exo Cage (Is jeep too heavy?)

Hey guys, looking for some real-world input before I pull the trigger on a front bumper. I’ve got a Gladiator that’s already built out pretty heavy. Running 37s, have a full exo/roll cage tied into the back of the jeep. I carry gear, use it off-road regularly. Not a mall crawler, but also not...
  3. Better Running 36" tires instead of 37" (4.88 Gears & Sport S w/2.5 Lift)?

I ended up going with these 37"s : https://www.discounttire.com/buy-tires/atturo-trail-blade-mts Nothing but good things about em that I can tell. They run 36.5 which is kinda smaller side of a 37" which is cool. Around 74-75lbs so not too heavy either.
  4. JT Full Exo Cage - Possible Issue Truck Flex?

So @TomH - I think that is where I was confused. The body will still have the requred "flex" even if the frame is made more ridgid.
  5. JT Full Exo Cage - Possible Issue Truck Flex?

Thank you so much, and you are both right! To clarify, this is a "laymens" photoshop. The final will have triangulation, proper supports ect. This was me (non-jeep tech) showing what I was looking for to my technitian who went over all the required supports to make it work as a true roll cage.
  6. JT Full Exo Cage - Possible Issue Truck Flex?

Sorry that was my stupidity - yes they are hollow. I meant this I just added "solid" on accident. Well the rock rails are mounted to the frame, and the bumper is mounted to the frame, so I assumed the roll cage tying them together would limit the flex I would think. Yeah it may be getting...
  7. JT Full Exo Cage - Possible Issue Truck Flex?

So I have a 2020 Jeep gladiator, and I will be adding a Full EXO cage to the Jeep - surrounding the cab and bed. I am going to be getting steel rock rails (custom steel square bars) that line the side of the jeep as well and are welded DIRECTLY to the frame. Same with a steel bumper, welded to...
  8. Should I NOT upgrade Axel Shafts so Gears Break Last - Dana 44 on 37s

Seems like they are a solid product - just need to know what you are getting into. Thanks a ton!
  9. Should I NOT upgrade Axel Shafts so Gears Break Last - Dana 44 on 37s

Yeah I over estimated a bit. Not quite 2k :/ But yeah roll cage, steel bumper ect. I am a slow driver, we'll see. I think you are right - These seem like the kind of thing I can replace at a future time if need be. I'm just getting lockers and re-gearing so while everything was apart I was...
  10. Should I NOT upgrade Axel Shafts so Gears Break Last - Dana 44 on 37s

I like the idea of keeping stock Axels as a backup. I'll do that for sure. It seems these are a worthwile upgrade if you have the extra capital, but not nessisary. From my understanding it's this sudden torque on the components which cause a majoirty of failures. I don't mind investing now if...
  11. Should I NOT upgrade Axel Shafts so Gears Break Last - Dana 44 on 37s

Are you referring to these? https://rebeloffroad.com/rcv-ultimate-dana-44-axle-cv-set-jeep-wrangler-jl-rubicon-392-jl-gladiator-jt-rubicon-1-piece/ I honestly have no idea what these are. Can you briefly explain how these will help get rid of the shock loading? And do I only get these on front?
  12. Should I NOT upgrade Axel Shafts so Gears Break Last - Dana 44 on 37s

So I have a tendancy to overthink things... but... I'm putting 37 in tires on my Jeep gladiator. Will likely be running 4.88 gears with 1k - 2k added weight for overlanding. It's running Dana 44 axles. I was considering upgrading the axle shafts to chromoly steel. I know this would reinforce...
  13. Better Running 36" tires instead of 37" (4.88 Gears & Sport S w/2.5 Lift)?

Ok so I thought I had it settled and was going 37s... but I talked to multiple jeepers since and they all basically said when going to 37s, there is going to be noticable maintence... even if you are careful. The tires just stress all the components. Now they all may be crazy too, frankly I'm...
  14. 4.88 Gears Safe For Distance On Highway?

Thanks so much for the heads up, yeah 4.88s seem the "standard" and can't really go wrong. And thanks to everyone, especially @Zachanadandy, @Gladiator85 and @PuddleJumper who all put a good amount of time into this conversation. I won't leave here with my final opinion as frankly I'm not...
  15. 4.88 Gears Safe For Distance On Highway?

@Zachanadandy - To be clear though, with having an Automatic the only real consideration here for me is picking the right gear ratio for tires/weight. From there the Jeep does the rest. I say all of this well aware I run the risk of sounded rediculous at any point in this conversation.
  16. 4.88 Gears Safe For Distance On Highway?

So admittidly this is a bit outside my pay grade. But if I understand correctly... the thought is if I run 4.88 I MAY not get the RPMs needed to keep the engine from running healtly (if I was driving a manual) considering the 1500lb load that I carry daily with the cage ect. But since it's an...
  17. 4.88 Gears Safe For Distance On Highway?

@Wheelin98TJ Hilly but not mountains. Lots of low grade ups and downs.
  18. 4.88 Gears Safe For Distance On Highway?

@Zachanadandy - Noted! I'm 95% sure this is where I'm ending up. Thank you for your time, it means a lot!
  19. 4.88 Gears Safe For Distance On Highway?

Wow thanks everyone! All this makes me think running 5.13 might not be a bad idea. I have a full steel exo-cage (not pictured) and loaded down bed (~ 600lbs in the bed at all times usually). I was worried I was getting a bit too low, but it seems like no one is having isues with the gears atthis...
  20. Better Running 36" tires instead of 37" (4.88 Gears & Sport S w/2.5 Lift)?

Thanks everyone! I feel it's overkill to respond to all 1 by 1 - but seems common that 37s are not going to reak my jeep :) I don't drive crazy, usually have kids with me so it's more techincal crawling than dangerous. @PuddleJumper my mechanic is a 30+ year veteran so to your point there may...
