The first dealer I went to did not change the oil either which I found crazy. I ended going to another dealer for further repairs including another cam. This dealer changed the oil and said they flushed it. After 2500 miles, I checked the oil filter and there was quite a bit of metal in the...
Jeep really needs to get their shit together. I been through this starting at 500 miles. So far with 12000 miles of ownership it has gone through two cam shafts, thee banks of lifter/rockers, three cam phasers, timing chains and guides. It is finally quiet, but tons of metal still in the oil...
Did they give you a final diagnosis for the need for long block replacement? Did they find metal in the oil control valve?
I went through a similar thing last summer into fall. I have a 2024 Rubicon X purchased new in January of 2025. Ticking probably started at 500 miles. I didn't take it...
I just ran these a little tighter with my impact. I could use the impact on the nut side with all the bolts with the exception of the rear lower frame side passenger control arm due to the gas skid being in the way. The front driver axle side lower skid is also a little tough because of the...
Mine is also the same way. I bought my skids last year in March and all of the bolts I received were the right size.
I have a Ryobi 1/2 inch brushless that does 600 breakaway and 450 fastening.
My Torque Wrench is a 3/4 inch Pittsburg (harbor freight), it is brand new, but have not had it calibrated. Given the force I have to use to get to 210 ft-lbs I imagine it is ball park, but can't be sure as it has not been professionally calibrated.
I was thinking the same thing, since you did...
I think it is in the front lowers primarily, but would not be able to tell exactly until I remove the fronts and see if the rears are also "clunking". The design of the skid wraps around the factory bracket making it difficult to get enough force to clamp the bushing on the control arm. The...
I have the front axle side lower control arm skids, the rear axle side lower control arm skids, and the rear frame side lower control arms skids. What are you guys torquing these to? I have done 210 foot/lbs, but still can't get enough compression to eliminate clunking on the Rock Hard 4x4...
2024 Rubicon X
Started ticking at 500 miles, passenger intake cam and roller/rockers replaced at 8000 miles
Driver side exhaust cam replaced at 8500 miles
Passenger side rockers replaced at 8500 miles
Not sure how I feel about all the metal that has been though this engine.
You are right, I looked at the compare portion on the Jeep Website. On one section it says Aux switches standard, on another it says Trailer Tow and Aux unavailable.
I think this would be a tough tow out west. I go from sea level to 7000 feet within the space of 50 miles with lots of ups and downs. I'm sure its fine back east. The loss of power with elevation gain is real. By the time I hit Donner Summit I am down about 21% in power.
I currently tow a Tab 320 which is about 2300 pounds, which is really close to your trailer. I also live in the Sacramento region so used to the hot weather and steep grades. I tow with a 2024 Rubicon X and am currently on 35 inch Wildpeak ATW4s. I added airlift 1000s bag which I really...
I definitely got the all the bad parts, and also have the feeling of moving on. 2024 Gladiator Rubicon X bought new in January 2025, and in the first year of ownership with 11,000 miles the passenger-intake cam, rockers and lifters, passenger-side exhaust rockers and lifters; driver's-side...
Easiest way to diagnose it is cut open the oil filter and look for metal. If metal is present, the cam is being eaten. My 2024 probably started ticking at around 500 miles on the odometer and got progressively louder. Took it in at 8000 miles, now going through problem after problem. Cam...
Listen at 55 seconds into the video, vehicle is warm and at idle. This is the start of a new tick 20 miles after intake cam, bank 1, followers and lash adjusters have been replaced at the dealership. The bad follower and consequently the bad cam lobe were on cylinder one. The new tick comes on...
Thanks for the info, but it is in the dealers hands at this point. The new tick sounds follower to me. When I listened with my stethoscope, I got the strongest tap right over cylinder one intake just like I did on the first go round. There was no distinct noise over the phasers. Phasers are...
