  1. Factory/Dealer filled 6 quarts in my new 3.6

Its a JLU. With the VVT and VVL systems. Hopefully they updated the engine design (since my 1st year JLU), but this rear main failure was very common because the JK's used 6 quarts and dealers made mistakes when doing oil changes. My engine is a POS. Phaser failures, cam and lifter failures...
  2. Factory/Dealer filled 6 quarts in my new 3.6

I hate to be a negative nelly here... but I have had to replace my rear main seal on my 3.6 (2018) twice now. First was when I purchased the jeep used. Second time... Chasing a bad cam shaft I used an engine flush before an engine oil change. The flush was approximately 1 quart of fluid...
  3. 50th Anniversary of the Michigan Tech four-wheelers reunion

I tried to wheel with this group a couple of times in 2002 or so... absolutely destroyed the trails we went. First jeeps walked thru the trail and by the time it got to the end of the line is was soupy mud. I am sure one bad ride does not represent 50 years!
  4. 3.6 Cam Self destruction

So, just adding my experience. 1. I am confused as to if the center lobe is used at high lift, then the offset lobes (outside) are for idle, why did I have a bad idle, when the outer cams were just fine. 2. I am starting to get a bit of a rumble in the idle again. Sent oil in, and it came...
  5. Vibration when decelerating in manual transmission

This is the design of the twin disc - dual mass flywheel system. I don't think most people downshift. The dual mass flywheel is only going to like to engage in a single direction (acceleration). I doubt anything is wrong, its how it was designed. Totally wrong clutch for this jeep. :-(
  6. Ordering rockers and lifter. Want to make sure these are good quality

Pentastar upgrade [edit] For 2016, FCA released an updated version of the 3.6 L engine. This engine features upgrades to the variable valve timing (VVT) system, two-stage variable valve lift (VVL), a new intake manifold, new valve springs, new piston rings, new fuel injectors, new ignition...
  7. Ordering rockers and lifter. Want to make sure these are good quality

Please confirm this! I don't have a good way to show you, but Jeep added VVL in 2016. I highly doubt they removed it. I am amazed that no one else is speaking up here. You should join the Wrangler forum.
  8. Ordering rockers and lifter. Want to make sure these are good quality

Its going to be both... and your cam shaft is going to be toast. No use replacing one and not the other. Don't forget the air intake gaskets (at least uppers)as you will want to swap those. And don't forget a new valve cover gasket... You will need some coolant too. And this tool...
  9. Ordering rockers and lifter. Want to make sure these are good quality

So... did they remove the VVL on these engines? Did they go back to only a VVT? I don't think they did. I think those are the wrong ones. Unless your 3.6 in your gladiator is different than in my JL Wrangler. Mopar Parts Giant is OEM parts. As far as I know, there are only OEM parts...
  10. JT 3.6 Block Heater Installation

Thank you for this! I installed one last night. A couple of notes... 1. The pry-bar trick is amazing to release tension on the serpentine. 2. I used a KAT brand heater. 11814. My big mistake was not realizing that the cord can be unplugged from the heater itself. I spent 3 hours trying to fit...
