I tow a kayak trailer often in the summer. Fairly lightweight trailer. 4 13-17ft kayaks. I’m generally not heavy. Less than 400lbs loaded.
I am not going bigger than 38s and I don’t drive extended periods at 80-85 mph very often.
Thank you this is exactly the kind of information I am...
Well then why are any of us here? What’s the point of this? They should probably shut the forum down and make it a searchable archive. Better yet we can just ask our AI overlords. They were trained on all these forum posts. They know the answers better than we do.
The whole point of the...
I am making plans to run down south to rebel off-road for a regear on the diesel gladiator. I come here seeking advice.
I am currently sitting on roughly a 4” lift and running 37” baja boss mt. My inclination is to go with 4.56. However there is the possibility I could go 38x13.5 down the...
Shop didn’t find anything wrong or unusual regarding the rear suspension setup prior to the install. I verified the part number on the 2.5” set they were correct.
Update: they installed the 3.5” springs today. I am back to 1.25” of forward rake unloaded. I was originally looking to remove 1” inch of the factory rake which Is close enough for me. Satisfied with the result.
I do not believe I am heavy at all. Currently during the install I am completely unloaded. I have the following:
SmartCap Sport - 185 lbs
BuiltRight Molle System - 45 lbs
Jeep Bed Line - ? Lbs
No Spare
that’s it. Without the spare I could not be more than 150lbs over stock weight back...
Alright so update. Good news. After loosening the suspension bolts up, jumping on it for a bit, and letting it sit a while before torquing everything back up with the wheels on the ground not much lean. Also one of the front springs was just ever so slightly spun. Front end dropped a little...
On the weight RSI says the cap for a gladiator weighs 185 lbs. I don’t run a spare and the only thing in the bed is a set of BuiltRight molle panels. I figure I am maybe 100-120 lbs over stock weight. The rack came off before the springs were installed. And I went from side steps to rock rails.
The Rhino rack was removed prior to the install so I am even lighter in back now which makes it even more confusing. I thought the AEV springs were soft and squatting a bit but this is not what I expected.
Here is a before and after pic. The truck is sitting on a preexisting AEV 2.5” lift with AEV geometry correction brackets, Clayton front and rear adjustable track bars, and fox 2.0 performance shocks for 2-3” lift. Was only swapping springs as I did not like the AEV springs.
You guys are awesome thank you. I’m going to get it level tonight and loosen the control arm and track bar bolts and jump on the bumper for a while as suggested thank you. I received an email from Clayton this morning also suggesting I do that very thing. 👍 makes a lot of sense.
If it is...
Thank you for the replies. If it leans because a Gladiator may lean when lifted I guess that is what it is. I will have to live with it. But I need to address this reverse rake. I will see if they will swap me out for a pair of 3.5" springs and take these back. I really don't want to buy...
Good people of the forum I need some help. I just installed a new set of Clayton 2.5" front Diesel and 2.5" rear springs on my diesel Gladiator Rubicon. After installation two things stood out right away.
First I have a substantial lean to the passenger side in the front. From ground to the...
Comparing them to the ATs they are noticeably louder. There was no discernible road noise with the AT over the wind. With the MT I can hear the tires. All of my kids asked me what the noise was on their first ride after the change.
If it ever bothers me though I just stop, get out, look at...
