  1. Battery voltage observations

Mine has been in that exact range since day one (2.5 years now). I have never checked the battery voltage since it was from day one, but I will now. I did think it was strange when we got a Grand Cherokee for my wife and the running voltage is more like 13-13.4 but I chocked it up to my max tow...
  2. Leaking rear window : fixes for those who don't want to play dealer roulette, wait 2 months, have their top scratched, seats ripped etc....

I completed this Saturday and happy with the results: My installation accessories: Neatsfoot oil was what I had for my boots, so I used it. It worked fine as a lube, but I hadn't washed off the residue in the picture. The hitch pin was perfect for pressing the tubing in a pretty consistent...
  3. How does an expert break in a new engine..

In all seriousness, I was already doing a break in procedure for my wife's new Grand Cherokee (3.6). Here is the report after the second change. I almost picked identical intervals as Lake used in that video (500mi on oil, 1500 miles on oil).
  4. How does an expert break in a new engine..

I'll take it from here: How dare he post that. He must think he is smarter than the engineers! How dare you reference it! You must think you are smarter or Lake is smarter or someone is smarter! Doesn't everyone know that because automotive engineers are the smartest people and their...
  5. [3.6L] What’s Your Cold Weather Startup Procedure?

I start it and watch for the RPM to drop below 1000 before I shift in gear. Then I idle down my driveway (1/4 mile) and drive normally except avoid wide open throttle until oil temp gets above 150. At that point I consider it warmed up. This is pretty much what I do in the summer also it just...
  6. How To Add Spare

The OCD part of me is actually probably the basis of my question. I don't like that I have a brand-new tire under there that matches let alone if I get a different set and it no longer matches. I park on a hill, so I see it every day as I walk up to the truck. I am fully aware that I am probably...
  7. Leaking rear window : fixes for those who don't want to play dealer roulette, wait 2 months, have their top scratched, seats ripped etc....

Great, thanks. That's what I was hoping. As I was visualizing it, I was thinking the biggest pain would be ending up with the goldilocks amount if the two ends had to meet.
  8. Leaking rear window : fixes for those who don't want to play dealer roulette, wait 2 months, have their top scratched, seats ripped etc....

I really like this idea. I can't tell from the pics so can someone who has done it elaborate on the bottom of the window. Is there a reason to do it? If so, do you put something in the tube to align the two sides when they meet?
  9. Anyone Using 5W-30 Oil? Tell Me your Opinion/Thoughts

Not quite pointless, we can see how other people think. But I agree with this emphasis (we do what we determine is best) rather than the old "you think you are smarter than the engineers". We all make lots of decisions for our trucks that are different than the engineers' because we have...
  10. How To Add Spare

Thanks for the feedback. I would have thought option 1 would be most recommended, so it's helpful.
  11. Don't believe that viral AI video comparing 0w20 to 5w30.

I was more interested in the temp/viscosity trend than the overall video subject in this case. I agree the GM problem is not related to this discussion. Despite the title of the video, he doesn't recommend changing viscosity without testing either. The titles are just clickbait sometimes.
  12. Don't believe that viral AI video comparing 0w20 to 5w30.

Here is the trend I was looking for (approx. 11:00 - 11:20): Do Thin Oils Destroy Engines? Lessons From GM’s Massive Recall
  13. Don't believe that viral AI video comparing 0w20 to 5w30.

Fair enough. To clarify, I wasn't meaning to imply I was conducting a rigorously scientific experiment, and I probably confused my point in the last post by mentioning the brands. I have previously changed between the same brands/chemistries mentioned (Mobil 1 EP and Valvoline R&P) on another...
  14. Don't believe that viral AI video comparing 0w20 to 5w30.

Agreed on the original topic. It is only going to get harder to distinguish AI garbage. Already the internet is mostly fake. Try searching "Best TV for 2025". MOST of the results are garbage blogs that are generated/Paid for by TV companies but playing games to get listed high in the google...
  15. How To Add Spare

Good question. I don't think I would mind cleaning the spare every 5K. These wheels are pretty easy to clean.
  16. How To Add Spare

So I have a set of 5 Mojave take off wheels and tires (285/70R17 Falken MT) that now have 35K on them. Overall, they have been great tires, I rarely notice the noise, and I am happy with them. I am now kicking myself that I did not get a 5th matching wheel and remount from the spare steel wheel...
  17. Durable, LED aftermarket taillights for 2020 Jeep Gladiator

I got these exact ones although with the clear lens. I only have a little over a year on them but no issues.
  18. Rockers, Cams and UOAs (Oh My)

I'm right there with you. I love reading the reports. "Yep, my engine is still doing amazing..." I get $40 of satisfaction out of that. Plus, I justify it by calculating that I can do the oil change myself and get the analysis for less than having a change done for me and also know I got...
  19. Rockers, Cams and UOAs (Oh My)

As a way of background, I have or have had 4 pentastar engines. I think it is a wonderful and reliable engine despite probable oil cooler problems and unlikely(?) rocker/cam issues. We had a 2017 Grand Caravan with 200K on it that I did 10k oil changes of Mobil 1 EP the whole life and the UOA...
