door locks

I just returned home after a 4 hour trip. When I got out of the Jeep the locks kept trying to lock. So I swapped the key fobs and the issue stopped. What would cause this?

So my tailgate isn't locking, I can hear the locking motor kick in and try and latch but it never actually locks the tailgate. I've even tried to lock it with the key and it turns but doesn't lock the tailgate. Any suggestions or anyone have any similar issues?
