About to place my rubicon order, and I really like the steel bumper option. However it won’t allow me to get it unless I also get the $1000 led light option! I have no interest in paying 1k for light upgrade when regular lights seem just fine to me. Anyone know more details or the difference? I get that it will be better quality but 1k worth it?

Admittedly, they are a bit expensive but it is a full set and not just headlights. My TJ Nd JK had the regular 7” units and they did suck sooooo bad. I spent more than that upgrading my JK headl, tail, fog lamps to LEDs. I truly cringed when I bought the LED headlamps for the JK but do not regret a penny.
For such a safety item that gets used every time it gets dark, these are a no-brainer IMHO. If it fits in your budget and you are like me and just never thought lighting should be that expensive simply on general principle, adjust your principles. Times change.

The difference was so great on my JK that it made me wonder how the old 7” housings and bulbs could still be allowed.

Good luck with your purchase!

I ordered the led package.

I was tempted by the oculus bi-led and just replacing all the other bulbs with led, but I decided to go for oem

When the order banks first opened in late April, I was forced into leather seats for my Rubicon, I wish it was the LED package and regret not getting it. JT halogen lamps are way better than the JK, but the LED's are just so much better all around.

I'm more than happy I got the LED package. Your field of view is so wide I feel super safe driving during night compared to other vehicles I owned. Definitely worth it IMO

This is the one option that I regret not getting and I haven't even taken delivery of my JT yet. Now I will be spending more than I would have for an OEM setup from the factory with possible lesser quality.

I'll just wait around for some used options to pop up over time I suppose!

Really none of the upgrades are "worth" it, like getting upgraded rims, you are paying the complete cost plus profit for the upgrade and you don't get the originals. If you ordered stock and did all the upgrades yourself you would save money because you could sell the original equipment and recoup some of your cost. Or better, the stock JT comes with a cheap vinyl top, but if you upgrade to the hardtop you pay the complete cost for the hardtop and don't get the soft top, no as a matter of fact you have to pay even more to get the soft top, yeah it is a better soft top but you are not paying the difference, you are paying for a whole new soft top.

That's not entirely fair. The hardtop is, what, $3,000 to buy from Mopar? It's only $1,200 when equipped from the factory.

After multiple road trips, with a lot of night driving, I believe that they are definitely worth it.

This is not a true statement. I just did the upgrades for the Mopar headlights, fog lights, and turn signals. It cost nearly double the cost of the factory option, and I can't imagine selling the stock halogens to anyone. They really suck, I would recommend the LED option if it is available on your trim level.

Where did you buy the Mopar LED headlights from? When I first got my JLU in Feb 2018 people were livid that you couldn't buy the LEDs direct from Mopar after the fact,. The release date kept getting pushed back so far that I honestly forgot about it and stopped checking the vender sites.

@AllMoparParts.com is a sponsor on here and has good deals on OEM gear. They've got the LED tail lights, too.

No brainer...I think you would regret not getting the LED's, a JL rolled up behind me yesterday in the rain and the first thing I thought to myself was "damn what a huge difference". Not just performance, but looks too, without them the vehicle seems dated. But this is just one guys opinion.
