At what mileage did you all do your first diesel oil change?

I would suggest no more than 3K miles or three months for the first change, and then follow the factory recommend schedule for severe duty after that. If you do a lot of long distance highway driving, the standard duty schedule should be sufficient.

Agree, but if you have modern lubricants like most of the modern engine of today have you can change it until 5k miles.

Considering the issues these motors have had due to oil, i would probably error on the side of caution. they might have solved some issues with the 3rd gen but in general new diesels are pretty dirty in the crank case.
