Well, Im back. Ended up not pulling the trigger 2 years ago but intend to now. Maybe.

There is a local dealer offering a $70K Mojave for $54,151. After a quick call, I said Id like to get it to $50K w/ my FCA discount included and he countered at $52K... but the APR even on my excellent credit is over 8%! He said if I come visit he'll "guarantee" his manager put together a good deal. I mentioned wiggle room on free oil changes, parts, etc but he ignored this. If I don't finance through them, he said the deal won't be as good

Ive seen some dealer ads in other states knocking off $20K, and given the fact that all 5 Jeep dealers within spitting distance have their lots jammed full of 2023's of everything, especially Gladiators, I feel like I should be able to get it for $50K. Honestly because of
  • the high APR,
  • the fact that in 2023 the damn thing doesn't even have automatic/sonar cruise control and side airbags,
  • two Gladiators I went to test drive had dead batteries,
  • these things have been sitting on lots

That I should be able to get less than $50K even. Im also feeling that the dealerships had their time making hand-over-fist with markups; now it's our turn.

Think I can get them lower than $50K? What are folks seeing locally?

Over 50 is too high, especially with high interest rates. In Southern California you can get them for $46k

To use your example of the $62,510 MSRP priced down to $46,200, this dealership has one for $63,535 priced down to $47,117. Even then I feel like they should go lower.

So the one I’m eyeing is MSRP $70K because of some expensive options like leather and active safety.

Using some basic math, your deal is about 16k off to start and you knocked them back about 2k. So the deal is similar to what Tuna listed, just a higher starting point. Dealer is in for more on your Mojave than the 46k one. Yea I would rather pay 46k, and this is part of the problem. Them ordering higher end versions loaded up when we mostly want fairly stock ones to start from.

Hard to say if you can get them lower, they might be looking at how much is off the already bloated MSRP and thinking you should be thankful. Not saying you should but your call in the end.

Me I am planning to go in and deal on a 67k MSRP, advertised at 53k but I will finance about 18k in the end and pay it off sometime next year most likely.

I just bought a Rubicon for $50,250, the MSRP was $66,880. I feel like if I had financed it I could have gotten it a little lower.

The one I just picked up on Monday had an MSRP of $74315--Ended up paying $63800+TTL and doc fees......There were some available with a larger percentage of a discount, but there's a price to pay for having every option box checked(ACC/Cold Weather/Lane Assist/Katskin leather/painted top and fenders) and being relatively local(2 hours away). The dealerships seem to be less willing to deal on the diesel Rubicons--they are aware that they're likely the last diesel that Jeep will make and they're rare to begin with. If I was looking for a gas Rubicon or Mojave, I would have held out for a much larger discount as they are a dime a dozen in the dealerships around here..........

I’m seeing upwards of 23% discounts on them here.

im curious for the ones that make you finance through them. I wonder if there are any negatives against just financing and then paying off.

At that price range you are approaching a 1/2 ton truck, hard sell for most unless you have to get a Gladiator. Jeep dealers also mark way up nowadays and than make it seem you are getting a deal with discounts, a nasty sales tactic. I don’t know the full story here but if you are doing a full 50k financing at 8% or more…. maybe look at a cheaper option. The minute you leave the lot you will be under water.

$52k is a decent deal if it's loaded, but absolutely squeeze every dollar you can out of them.....dealerships are desperate for sales. The market had take a complete 180 because of the ridiculous finance rates. I see Rubicons and Mojaves listed for under $50k all the time here locally, although it's usually not the fully loaded models.

All the ones I have talked to say they expect a "gentleman's agreement" that you won't pay off or change financing for something like 3 or 6 months. There's nothing they can do when you go straight to your credit union after the dealer to get a better rate. Just need to make sure there's no prepayment penalty, and the law says they can't do a prepayment penalty on auto loans longer than 61 months.

By me in NY they aren’t doing much on the 2023. $2,500 off sticker. They may come down a bit in person but not advertised.

Pull up an online loan calculator and do some math.

I did, and $52k at 8% over 5 years gives total interest of ~$11,200. Don't know what it's like in your area, but my credit union is at 6.20% on 5-year loans, and that's $8,600 in interest over the loan.

That's a $2,600 difference right there. But if they won't budge at all, I reckon you'll be paying that $2600 to someone: either the dealer or their bank.

In the Puget Sound area, the further away from Seattle the better the deals. But most aren't as steep as what you can find elsewhere.

It's like some dealers pay attention to online prices and others say "F it, you're going to buy this $72k base level Mojave." J/K, it's not base.

But the end of the year and stagnant market makes it a buyers market. And it really shows how much they're willing to sell them for. They'll just get a cut of the financing.

I was looking at a 2023 gas rubi $51,900
Trade in my 2020 gas rubi 52000 miles $39,000 dealer said we could make it happen at $11,500 diff.
Hmm I still have 48,000 miles on my extended warranty.
What to do ?
