TFLTruck just put out a video of the JL 3.0D drag racing a 3.6 Gladiator, a 5.7 Hemi Ram, and a 7.3 Superduty. It was quicker than all of them! I would post a link to the video, but not sure that’s allowed here. Look it up and enjoy!

Did they use the same horribly unfair test practice that they normally do, testing forced induction engines against naturally aspirated engines at high altitude?

Their tests are amusing, even fun to watch at times but very far from scientific or fair comparisons - but no one cares or notices because they are so entertaining and in your face with their "testing".
Apples to Apples and at an altitude that most of the country lives in, not them.
Trailer towing with a water tank - ask any OTR driver about hauling liquid loads.

Hemi is a fairly heavy engine - of course a light vehicle with a light engine will be quick.
Drag racing 101 - why do we take the heaters and unnecessary seats and stuff out of cars to make them go faster down the track? Weight.
Fun to watch - but hardly a comparison.
Now - do you buy a diesel to race, or pull heavy loads at any speed, slow or fast, and not have to keep changing gears to make the next hill?
If most of my driving was hauling or pulling, I'd opt for diesel. But that's not even 5%, so.......
Did you guys buy any Jeep to be FAST, quickest in the quarter mile? OR get there no matter what?

Yes, I bought my Jeep to drag rage larger trucks to the next stoplight, so there!
No, they aren’t scientific tests, but they do give some comparison, which is more than we have ever had before.

I guess for me it was as expected. Perhaps performance building experience takes away the fun from those lop-sided comparisons.
It's like knowing the outcome of a crime novel before you read it.

Horribly unfair?

I guess they should teleport themselves out of colorado for all videos

Just watched it. Rofl don't pre-wind that diesel up and watch the gladiator walk away while the diesel finally realized you are asking to start moving forward.

The ecodiesel turbo lag is something special.

Dear God given the weight difference I would certainly hope it beats a 7.3l HD pickup.

Tell me more about your experience driving the 3rd gen ecodiesel

Well, they don't have to teleport. They could drive.
At least to an elevation that doesn't unfairly pit a naturally aspirated engine working with less than normal atmospheric pressure against one with forced induction.

Drove the 3rd gen in the 1500 about a week ago. While I was looking at trucks during the employee pricing event near the end of the year. Reacted just like the tfl video I have mentioned before. I was hopeful that was still pre production issues but nope. Just as bad of lag as my '16 if not worse.

Larry h Miller and Prestige near Denver both have 3rd gen ecodiesel 1500s on their lots.

If you don't brake torque it like they did on the video it would have lost to both the ram and the ford. Nearly a full 2 seconds before the engine actually unleashes it's power even once it's hot.

... horribly unfair test practice...
Good Grief you act like it's some grand conspiracy
They simply raced what they had on hand where all the vehicles happened to be. Just for fun.
I would have been shocked if the lighter JL had not won -
