That's a real nice-looking setup. How do you like the Yoko MT's so far? Any noticeable difference in road noise or lower MPG compared to the stock 245's?
I really like the tires. I can't compare to the stock because these were put on before I left the dealership. I had them in my JKU before. I did notice the weight when I first put them on then. My mpg is about 18-19 on the highway and about 11-12 towing a 3000 lbs trailer. I only have about 1800 miles on it. Not sure if it makes a difference but some say it does. As for road noise it is less than I expected but it is still a MT tire but not really noticeable with the doors and to on. Maybe I'm just used to it too.

I have the Sport S without the max tow package. I am running 285/75/17 on stock JKU rims and no lift or spacers with zero issues. They are the Yokohama Geolander MT.

Have you had a chance to flex it? Any rubbing?

I do not have any rubbing but since that time I have change the suspension. I now have rubicon take off springs and shocks. I also added 1.5" spacer in the front and 3/4" in the rear. I chopped the front fenders too. So a lot has been changed since that picture.

I was in a similar dilemma .... but I was looking at 285/75r17 vs the 295/70r17 (see comparison specs below). The 285/75r17 is the largest tire you can put on the gladiator without altering the vehicle in anyway from its stock form without having rubbing issues. So you shouldnt have any issues with the 295s. I didn’t take out the air dam, I know some hate it but I like it in... it doesn’t leave a gap above the bumper.

Mine is a max tow, I ended up putting a 2” spacer lift, plus front rubi springs ... which gave me an additional .75-1” in the front. Only reason I went this route is proportionally it really does just look better. Also gave me more height when putting the boat in the water, my ramp is super flat....

I attached some before and after pics, first totally stock ... second w lift and front springs.

Thanks for sharing. I too am in VA so I feel your pain on the horrible boat ramps. I am going with the Rubicon LE front springs the 340/343 with 1in spacers and .5in spacers on the stock max tow springs in the rear, with Rubicon fox shocks all the way around. Also putting on the front lower arms from the mopar 2in kit. I will be running 285 75r17 on the stock rims. In your opinion do you think it will sit fairly level with that setup?

MAY be a tad nose high, or nose high as soon as you put a pillow in the bed of the truck.

The rubi springs provide a good bit of lift to the front of a sport so the addition of the 1in front spacer may push that up a bit far.

Just my opinion though. Im sure there are folks who have ran that setup

My only concern with putting a size like that on your truck is that you might run into issues if you destroy a tire and getting a same size tire quickly. I put 285/70/17's on my Wife's Wrangler and they look great with a 2.5". You might also be able to find new take-offs at a good price since that is what Jeep puts on the Rubicon and some other models.

I know this is a wrangler but should look similar.

Thanks,
I have been toying around with different sizes I just don't want to go overboard and really lift it. I had an 06 TJ that had 6in long arm with a dana 60 conversion and tri link rear. So.... my 8mpg days are behind me lol.

I haven't read back through the thread, or at least cant remember if i have, but A lift needs to fit your needs. In my experience a lift that makes you level will make you look like a squatting dog as soon as you use your truck for truck stuff. A little rake is necessary to let those max tow springs do their job.

I personally have never been a fan of the rubi front springs as a franken lift option, I just think theyre miss matched to the way the truck drives with a load on it. But thats just my perspective.

A cheap lift is a 1.5in spacer up front and a 1/2 spacer in the rear. That eliminates most of the rake and makes you look nearly level, without creating the need for adding back caster with new MPP LCAs. It also doesn't create the need to get an adjustable track bar, longer sway bar end links, other control arms, ect., ect.

I went with the IRO 2in spacer lift and kept my stock max tow springs. In retrospect I should have just done the Daystar comfort ride 3/4in front/rear spacers if anything at all. Would have saved a lot of time and money lol

I’ve finally settled on a set of Patagonia MTs for the Gladiator (I think), but I’m wanting to run 295, 70, 17 on an otherwise stock sport s (not a max tow). I’ve seen a ton of threads and videos regarding running 35s and what it takes to make them fit, but what about 34s? Technically these Pats would be 33.5 inches in diameter, so I’m sure I probably won’t have issues but I thought I’d see if anyone had experience with this question.
I ran 315/70/17 for almost two months with no problems with no lift, Goodyear Duratracs
