Is anyone running 35’s with 3.73 gears? How is gas? And does anyone tow with them? I have a 19ft boat right around 1200 lbs that I will be towing and I want to make sure I have plenty of power to get it out of the water and tow uphill.

It's not so bad for me, but I am almost exclusively flat areas. Getting into the Sierra's is a struggle at highway speeds. Rarely if ever see 8th, sometimes 7th, mostly 6th. Gas, it's a pig, but it's more as much or more about the lift and tires than the final drive.

I run 10.5 inch 35s. Flat hwy cruising I can see close to 17mpg. Throw in hills and it drops to 16. Around town driving 15 and less.

I tow a much heavier boat than yours and it does just fine at the ramp.

With that said I'm getting 4.88s installed this month to help the transmission out.

I drive from Sacramento to Reno 2 times a month no problem at all with 12.50 x 35s and 373s. Sacramento to redding 70 mph she will stay in 8 th gear most of the time. There is less than 400 RPM difference from 7th to 8th gear

35s and 3.73 here.

Gets about 16 mpg.

Mine doesn’t tow, so no experience there. What 19’ boat do you have that is so light?

My biggest issue is never seeing 8th and rarely seeing 7th. I don’t like having an 8 speed and not using all the gears.

Mine needs 4.88 gears.

I don't tow but I do have a 200lb DECKED system in the bed. Another 200lbs worth of RSE rock sliders (not sure if they weigh 100lbs each but I got sore shoulders to prove it). All that on 35s with 3.73 gears.

I drive primarily in town so my MPG is like 12miles per. It's getting regeared to 4.88 next week.

Wife’s JL has 4:10s and wished it had just a smidge more w/ 35s. Granted I am a bit biased with my 4:88s on 37s.

Been running 4.56 for almost two years.

3.73 with 35’s on mine … 6th gear damn near ALL the time, saw 7th very rarely and didn’t even know that 8th was there

my fuel economy sucked stock never saw over 19mpg and saw 19mpg once… on my very first tank.

I tend to drive the speed limit and with cruise… I’m in La. … pretty flat

Going back and forth to Ohio during late October/early Nov with 35’s and 3.73 first pic, a year later , same drive with 4.56

I really like the 4.56, the biggest shock to me was the first time I put it in reverse after the gear change. Big difference

I’ve got 35s on 373 and honestly it isn’t terribly bad. I average about 16 1/2 on the highway on gas however I never tow and probably won’t be. It’s generally flat here as well. I mean we do have some hills here and there and I’ll notice a little bit hitting those but it’s nothing detrimental in my opinion

On a side note: with 35’s and 4.56 it will now go into 8th at 45mph

It will still drop to 7th due to incline or a very strong head wind

What tires do you have in that size?

I’ve got a 19ft stingray. Pretty light boat.

Why the big jump to 4.88? Why not 4.10 or something in between?

Are you seeing 7th and 8th pretty frequently? I’m leaning towards 4.56 but it seems like a lot of others jumped to 4.88
