You won't... The RPMs are too low at hwy speeds and the resistance too much to allow the tranny to up shift.... and with the boxy shape of the Gladiator when you hit higher rpm "speeding ticket" speeds, the air resistance is too much to allow the tranny to up shift.

I have 37” Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MT on stock Rubicon 4.10s with a 4.5” lift. I see 8th gear regularly but I’m usually at 60-65mph on the interstate. It’s a daily driver in the hills of Pittsburgh and I’m getting 17.5mpg with a spare 37 under the bed but otherwise empty bed. So yes, it’s possible but much over 65mph and that experience changes quick.

It's do-able, but you won't win any races. running 37" BFG MTs with the 4.10s, but have 5.13's sitting waiting to be installed. MPGs really aren't that bad, with the Jeep it's more about aerodynamics than anything else, if you run 80 it won't matter what gears you have your mileage will suck.

I pulled my boat over the weekend, probably 4K total. You definitely know it's back there and it struggles on the uphills, but it's about as fast as I'd want to go while towing anyways.

personally I'd go with the 37's, but budget money in the near future to regear.

I have a 2023 Mojave with stock 4.10 gears and x comp 37x13.5r17. I rarely do drive on freeway but it does't get into 8th gear. I have tried a few times manually to put into 8th gear on perfectly flat ground, but it's practically useless powerwise.

I'm going to have to re gear soon

Absolutely NOT calling your "bluff" here but I wonder how your getting into 8th gear? Does the different x fer case have anything to do with it? (vs a Mojave x fer case) I wonder if it's because the MT tires are very light??? My Mojave doesn't get into 8th unless I do it myself.

2023 Sport with 4.10s and 37x13.5 X Comp MTs. Central FL, I see 8th gear frequently on highway and city if I'm easy on the gas pedal.

The short answer I think is that I generally drive slow. 55-60mph is the sweet spot, unless there’s a headwind then it’s more like 50 but I and drivers around me rarely have the patience for that!

I drive slow also, but a little faster than you ! I typically drive 65-70 on freeway

I'm running 37" Toyo R/T's with the stock 4.10's and scaled it about 2 weeks ago at 600# over GVWR. I get 14mpg around town and mid 15's on the highway. I will see 8th gear on long flats, downhill or with a tail wind but not many other times.

It's livable...certainly 4.88's would be the way to go.

I wouldn't. But then that's almost at minimum highway speed around here.
