I know the pros and cons of running a 17 inch wheel versus an 18, so I'm not really looking to be schooled on all that. I have specific reasons on why I'm on 18s and even looking to stay with 18s even when purchasing aftermarket wheels soon.
As standard the Overland comes on 18s. However I upgraded to 35s on the stock Overland wheel which hasn't been bad and look great on my current se up. However I'm looking to get aftermarket wheels soon and my tires are still practically brand new. Running Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLTs (35s). Not even close to the 60k mile warranty they offer and they've been great. So I'd like to stay with 18s versus buying new tires right away for whatever wheel I go with.
However I'm thinking in advanced, once it is time to renew the tires I'm exploring possibly going with 37s for a few reasons (although I've got to consider a regear thereafter but that's another story). One being I personally like the wheel to tire ratio of a 37 on 18. I actually think it's the sweet spot. I know some consider the 50 percent rule on tire/wheel ratio but I personally think 37s or anything higher on 17s is just too much meat for my personal liking. I may also just stay with 35s. Besides I actually like 18s. They are big enough to show off its detail yet allow room for tires and doesn't scream at you for attention like a 20.
I also know options are limited for tire choices especially in an 37inch AT. So I may switch to a MT to open up options slightly more if I do go this route. But I prefer an AT.
Just looking to maybe pick the brain of those running 37s on 18s on their tire choice and why but also their overall experience with that set up. Maybe also a visual of that set up.
