Has anyone ran with 37" tires on a non Rubicon 3.0L diesel? Specifically with the stock 3.73 gearing. If so, how did it perform both on and off-road?

You will get a wide range of subjective input on this topic.

It may be worth mentioning the type of terrain and general use you will have with the truck.

Mall crawling - you’re likely fine but you will notice a decline in acceleration and performance.

Moderate to heavy off-roading or lot’s of highway driving and hills or at high altitude - re-gearing is highly recommended.

Daily driver around small town and weekend trail rides in hilly Kentucky.

It'll basically be like having 2.73 gears; gear spacing is stretched-out to the point where 7-8 will rarely be seen unless going downhill.

All diesels have 3.73, even the Rubicon.

I cant see it being that big a deal other then MPG! Im running 35's and have a lead foot. Im looking for 37"-38" currently. I have added a peddle commander and bank tuner but keep the settings turned down.

I think it depends on your goals for the Jeep and habits And also the weight of your Jeep and especially the wheels and tires you are running.

I see 7th and 8th all the time. Locking the trans in first + 4 low also gives a very usable range of speeds off road.

all that being said, if you tow a lot get 4.30s or 4.56 put in and do lockers while you’re in there

this is with 39s on stock gearing. Truck is happy at 1600rpm in 8th

Yup 6000 miles on my 37s and no problems, then again my 4.88s just showed. I plan on installing lockers and towing with it

Stock Willys ecodiesel on 37s. I honestly feel no need to regear. I have no issues maintaining 75mph in 8th, get good mileage (23-24) and it has no issues on Moab. Really, in 4 low, it idles up lot of the obstacles offroad.

I could feel a difference in acceleration when comparing mine on 37s to a stock Willys, but I have neverefelt any need to regear.

What lift do you have? Trying to figure out if 37s will fit with a mopar 2in lift
