I have a JTR with 5.13, 37” KO2 and 2.5” Clayton lift. Love the Clayton lift and now getting the 3.5” Clayton.
Now I am thinking to get 39” KO2. They are lighter than 37” Mickey Thompson (my other favorite being true to size).
I have trussed my front Dana 44 and have single RCVs with FAD delete. I have put Yukon chromoly axle shaft in rear.
Do you think it can handle 39” KO2s? Just for reference, I am planning to do John Bull, Holcomb creek, Rubicon trail kind of trails in the coming year.

I think that anything can happen…

what is going to decrease the probability of issues, when, and how you use lockers, and how much skinny pedal you use.

If you are light on the pedal and keep the front end unbound up, you should be fine.

40” Patagonia MT02’s or XT’s are two other light options. And would give you another 2” of tire height… frankly the 38” in these tires are probably pretty spot on to a 39” bfg. ?. The sidewall and quick wear are issues of the past…..

If you have a winch, never be too proud to use it. Go easy on the skinny pedal like mentioned above, but again, anything can happen. I've been running 39" KM3 on my magnusson JTR with 513's for about 8k miles and no issues. My axels are stock as well other than the gears. I asked about doing gussets, chromoly axels, etc when I did my gears, and the shop I use said there's "really no need, you have a winch, humility is a lot cheaper than buying new parts..." lol

I agree sort of. Jeep really upgraded the 44 in 2018…. I say this, only because we bent our 2016 hard rock front 44 tube on 37’s @ the housing….. and it wasn’t beaten… replaced it with an ultimate 44 for the thicker walls, trusses and chromo shaft and it was solid.

But to your point- the new 44’s are pretty incredible. Will be interested to see how the new 2024 “full float” rear does.

Looking at some websites it says these tires weigh only 69lbs can that be right?

I’m curious where the 39” BFG will measure out. I was disappointed at the height of the 37” BFGs that I’m running on my Gladiator. They measure out at 35.5” on a 17x9 inch wheel. I understand that measurements vary but it seems that they could make it truer to size. The tire shop said that they are measured before being mounted and aired up. I don’t know anyone who runs them that way!

We run kanati mud hogs in a 39" on the wife's JLUR. Did John Bull and Holcomb creek 2 days after install. They've been on for almost 10k miles so far without issues. They were also 1/2 the price of the overpriced bfgs

That’s awesome to be at 79lb. However, they need to lower that price point to be competitive. Something between 400-450 I think. 700 is way off.
Understood. Just a friendly reminder....Discount Tire does maintain a Low Price Promise. We will match competitor pricing on all products that we sell.
