IIRC from my SRT Grand Cherokee days you can hold the up or down paddle (not sure which or if both will do it) for a few seconds and it will go back in to the normal D mode.
I was thinking the same thing.

Edit: Looking more closely at your pictures it appears the inside of the steering wheel is basically foam. I wonder if I could do some careful surgery to make the openings in my Mojave wheel fit the paddle shifters. I guess I should probably wait until someone confirms they work in our JTs before I spend the time and money, and potentially ruin my steering wheel.

I suppose this should be possible. In the past I owned a Chrysler 300C and installed the paddles from a Merc. AMG. And cut off some small pieces out of the hard foam of the oem steering wheel.

The only issue I am working on at this point is when shifting with the paddles, my current gear selection goes away next to the "D" The only way I can get it back is to slap the shift stick to "M". If I move the shift stick to "D" the gear selection stays until I trigger a paddle.

I would be surprised if the 392s are this way, It seems like I have not triggered a necessary option with AlfaOBD. I selected a bunch more shift-related options (too much detail for this post) and we'll see what happens.
I own a 2020 GC Trailhawk with paddle shifters so I'll speak to that experience. Can confirm that if you are in manual mode with the paddles, if you press and hold the right paddle it will take you back to auto mode. It sounds like you may also be referring to the actual gear number indicator going away...in the GC it was an option somewhere in the regular car menu options to turn that display on/off, no fancy OBD coding needed. My guess is that since the Gladiator doesn't come with paddles it is getting some mixed signals, but I am not sure if you will find it in the car's settings. (maybe hidden and an OBD app would make it visible...?). The GC has both manual mode on the shifter and the paddles.

The Gladiator has the menu option for gear shown all the time. I have it on to entertain my OCD everday

This is so exciting. @DC3 For your next trick, could solve the factory front camera for those of us with models before 2021 ;)

Anyone who has used the 392 wheel… is there any benefit over my Rubicon wheel? I’m trying to decide if I should wait it our for a Rubi wheel solution or just grab the 392 before demand explodes.

I'm not sure I follow your question. The 392 wheel is thicker like the Mojave wheel, but also has provisions for the paddle shifters. What do you mean by a Rubi wheel solution? Adding paddle shifters without swaping out the steering wheel?

Sorry if I was unclear. I said “Rubi” just to indicate it’s not a Mohave or 392.
Worded differently, if the stock wheel can be modified to work, is there any reason to go with the 392 wheel?

If you're not interested in the thicker steering wheel and only interested in the paddles, then the 392 wheel doesn't buy you much and you may be able to wait for a solutionwith the stock wheel. I miss my thick steering and look forward to to my order arriving!

I was thinking the same thing.
This is it! I hold down the up or downshift and it automatically goes to auto-shift.

I have not been able to resolve the loss of the gear indicator..... when in auto mode, the gear indicator is active, as soon as I shift with the paddles it goes away.

I do have a shift-up indicator light when in paddle mode.

More to come....

The steering wheel and most other components are now on national backorder.

I am still working to get inventory to offer turn-key kits.... we'll see how this goes. I am also creating a solution to add paddle shifting to the standard wheel.

I wonder if this would work with the diesel? I'm hoping so since I've already ordered all the parts.

hmmm...wonder if there is another wire or sensor/switch missing somewhere under the shifter itself then...I would assume that when it is put in manual mode there is a switch that is triggered for the car to say, yes you must display the gear indicator. For the cars with paddles, it is built in so that the indicator operates in either M or with paddles. Is it a stretch to say that somehow pulling the paddle triggers the car to remove the indicator because it sees it is in D...? Probably. But i think so far it seems the focus has been only on the wheel itself, without exploring the possibility that there is another piece of hardware that is part of the equation. Mkght be worth finding a 392/another similar vehicle to check things out...

Im unfortunately not offering any specific, sorry, just thinking out loud. This is a great idea!

I am pretty concerned about my order. I put it in really early but MyMopar, was not very responsive. Hoping they did not diddle around to long and miss my chance.
