Went on a trip with a buddy to the dunes in Oklahoma (Waynoka) from STL, MO. He towed a 22' Utility trailer with my canam x3 and two other quads as well as all of the tools, paddle tires for everything and three other grown men in the cab. It was a Gladiator Overland with auto, 2" lift and 35" tires. It struggled to get to fifth gear most of the time on any highway flat or slight incline. The wind was against us it seemed both ways, averaged 8 mpg. It towed the load well I must say, but the engine was stuck at 3-4k rpm the entire time. When he got back he got the rear end serviced and found metal shavings. Unsure as to whether or not it was that journey that did it, but I definitely wouldn't count it out. BTW he still drives the truck and has added several thousand miles on it without issue. I need to ask him if it's max tow or not as I'm not sure. He does still tow, just not that much that I'm aware of. We did the math and the load was right at 5500#. You do you is all I have to say here. That's a long way. Hypothetically if someone were to do that, I would plan it where you have a tailwind haha.To clarify for everyone since the point seems to be missed - nothing is more important than safety. This is not a trip I plan on doing, hence the name of this thread is a hypothetical. Plan is to get it trucked.
I am canvassing to see if it has been done before with certain modifications, i.e. tires, weight distribution hitches etc.
The platform can support the weight (AT, Max Tow). My question is, what are mitigating factors, and why is the 6spd Mojave unable to tow it while others can.
Appreciate the input from everyone, peanut gallery included
