If your like me, you may have seen the white Gladiator with an ARE CX Classic topper advertised that looks awesome! Then you do a build and get the price and say: Yeah, that’s nice but way too expensive!” Well I finally pulled the trigger and ordered one anyway.

I ordered the CX Classic that had a 6 to 8 week build time and elected to pay $75 bucks for express deliver. The very next day my dealer called and said they had a new topper the CX Evolve. Basically the difference was a full glass rear window with keyless lock/unlock that works with the key fob. Since I paid too much money already, I figured what’s a few more bucks... So I bought an A.R.E. CX EVOLVE topper.

Three weeks later my topper arrived and got installed. This thing has all the options.

CX Evolve fiberglass cap - color matched $1995.03
Outdoorsman side vented windoors $270.12
Tilt front sliding window $81.60
12 volt interior light with dual rope lights w/prop switch $188.70
Clothes rod $23.46
Came with free carpet interior
Yakima Jetstream roof rack (had to take off to fit in garage) will add photos soon with them on. $418.20

It took a minute to grow on me, but I absolutely love the lockable rear cargo space. It’s like my JK with a ton of cargo room. I wanted to post this for anyone looking at these toppers. For me, I research the crap out of things before buying. Unfortunately there was not a lot out there on this forum or YouTube. So here you go!

Looks super clean. Love the lines. How much dynamic and static weight can it hold on top?

The dealer told me 200lbs. When I asked about loading my three kayaks. He said that would not be a problem. I believe if you wanted to do a RTT it would be best to get the HD version. I reached out to ARE for the exact ratings. I will let you know when they get back to me. Thanks

You sir, have excellent taste. I like how that topper fits the lines of the truck.
Couple questions - is that an ony6+ light bar? Is there any noise? That fits really well/low profile.
Also I like those LP9s, I feel like I haven’t seen a pic of those on a Jeep. Baja designs mount?

To the OP, thanks for the write up and pictures. I started a prior thread about whether or not a cap was 'cool'. In my opinion, it looks better without a cap, BUT you've also proved that it does look 'cool' in a different way with one. I've configured this cap multiple times and for me it's not a financial decision but just rather, 'will I like it?" issue. Can you please continue to update about how it's functionality is useful in varying scenarios?

Additionally, I'd probably want it on as often as I want it off, so how difficult will that be over time and now I have an additional storage issue that would require me to get another hoist. For what it's worth, I'd have the white setup:

Nice cap, the outdorsman flip up windows are great , the Yakima easily removeable rack is also great, why drive around with a rack if not needed. I have a different brand top, but have the Yakima quick conect rail mounts, and flip up doors. The flip up doors are amazing you can easily access anywhere in bed, better then any tonneau cover and quicker. Nice post showing options, I think there are about six hardtop options out there now, compared to one a year ago!......Jack

Thanks! The light bar is Quadratec’s J5 with Amber Halo Rings with the fish bone off-road windshield light bar bracket. I love this light bar! I have not noticed any wind noise. Yes Baja Designs mount straight to OEM bumper. There are a few guys on here with them and several YouTube guys with them as well.

I love the look of your Gladiator! The white and black is sharp; It reminded me of my 07 Tahoe. Like yourself, it’s all about what we like on our Jeep’s! The amount of $$ we can spend on our rides is unlimited... Prior to this purchase I ran a steel rack over my tonneau cover. In my opinion it looked great, I originally used it to haul my kayak around and was going to do a RTT. After considering spending over $5 grand on a tent, I was like why not get a small camper. So I went a different direction. I wanted more space that was lockable. When It rains, I hit the key fob and I’m putting groceries up. Loving that option. It took a minute for me to like the look, but I absolutely love it and the extra functionality is worth it to me. As far as removing: 4 “C” clamps and unplug the harness. Definitely would want a lift.
The white cap advertisement for ARE sold me. It’s definitely cool! I will keep you updated on various uses. Thanks

Jay, I’m not sure. I know the CX Classic can be built in the HD version. My advice is go to the A.R.E. website, do a build or call an authorized dealer. Attached is what I pulled up possibly around you.
