Went out to the car yesterday and it wouldn't unlock with the FOB.......hmmmm.
Luckily I have a switchblade key FOB and a hole to stick it into so i didn't have to drill out my door handle.
Car wont turn over, battery DEADER THAN A DOOR NAIL, not sure if this is possible, but my volt-meter read 3.6V, yes Three Point Six.......
Luckily I still had my battery charger with electrical taped wires, and 2 jump boxes! Fired right up with all 3 on there.
Get in and notice its in Reverse. So I puts it in Park (did I hop out of there last night and leave it in Reverse? wouldn't the car yell at me? I ask myself) Gladys comes to life. Radio is blaring, HVAC is blowing max, I press the off button for HVAC.
take off my McGyver jump kit, drive to work let it run for 90 mins until I have to drive 40 miles north to drop off a top-dresser for my lawn.
This
not this,
On my way, its COLD.....in May, cuz Wisconsin can't decide what weather should be, like a teenage girl can't pick an outfit.
(sorry if this violates forum laws, please remove or change photo. I thought it was funny.)
So I go to turn HVAC on, nothing works. can't turn blower on, change where its blowing, change temp, no hot air today pal. Luckily I have heated seats and steering wheel.
Check engine light is on, has a message on dash about start/stop system needs servicing. Take it to the stealership, they run their diagnostics for 4 hours.
Nice kid from the stealership gave me a ride to and from work and told me all the reasons why he hated his Wrangler JL and got rid of it for a new Cherokee, lol. Hey at least they're honest.
Both batteries check out fine (didn't know the JT Sport had 2, thought only light hybrid 2.0 Wranglers did). They reset the HVAC which hung up on the motherboard converter magiger.
They don't know what caused the battery to drain, but said i had a loose battery terminal from all those lights I had hooked up, ( i only have 2 cowl lights hooked up with 1 wire to the battery and it wasn't connected to the main terminal.....)
So now I'm back to HVAC goodness wondering when the battery or batteries will die if they really were down to 3.6V. Just another day in the life.
