It's a 2020. May be a new record if the OE batteries are still in it.
I bought my JT Sport in July 2020. It still has the original batteries in it. I’m curious how long they will go!

The answer is -
It depends.
Explaining that further -
It depends on many factors.

Luck, how often and far it's driven, or if infrequently, if you keep them topped off otherwise.
Batteries allowed to drain down and never fully recharged, or allowed to be at a less than nearly full charge for a longer time will lose capacity and life span.
3-4 years is a really good life on these original Jeep batteries.

Finding, getting and quitting jobs. Because they all suck.
I'll tell ya what; this sounds like the typical problem with automotive engineers that live in the city and take subways to work. What, you think they actually DRIVE cars to work?! C'mon...

Some Chrysler clown got a bonus designing the AUX switch bank but never bought a coffee for the electrical load engineer, because he was mad at him for sleeping with his transgender girlfriend at the company Christmas party, and the Gladiator charging system has exactly 0 additional amp capacity for running aftermarket accessories.

Don't believe me? Just go ahead and buy a brand-new Polaris 4x4 and put a winch operated plow on it. Have the dealer order a Polaris factory winch, factory plow frame and blade and install it at the dealership. Then plow you driveway. Winch in, winch out. Plow up, plow down.

Then watch the check engine light come on because the battery voltage drops too low because the charging system can't keep up. Every new on or off-road vehicle made by anybody is going to do the same thing with winches, lights, espresso machines welded to the tailgate or whatever you decide to put on it. Don't care who makes it or who owns the company or where it's made.

Why? Because they don't give a FU*K. They get paid to sell cars. Period. The end. Don't care what they say, dollars are the bottom line and everything else is somebody's problem (yours). Why do you think the aftermarket even exists?

So if anybody makes a high-amperage alternator for the JT, go ahead and get yourself one and let me know what happens. If that doesn't fix it, i'll send you a 2$ bill and eat my hat. Seriously.

Really? LoL - then how do i operate a SNOW PLOW with mine and never see so much as a hiccup electrically. And I'm sitting lifting, tilting, lowering that plow with the engine at idle much of the time.
Keeps up fine, voltage never drops too low triggering any lights.
I've also winched at idle - there's some pull from the electric system.
Problem is sometimes people get into the situation where their battery voltage is already at about 12.2 volts at rest, which is under 60% SoC and then try to put a load on it. The battery can't handle shit, so the alternator at idle tries to handle it, dropping the voltage down.
With a fully charged battery and things being as they should, I can easily operate equipment pulling 100 times more than your lights pull.
i can run heater on, defrost on, lights on and plow - lifting and tilting the plow at idle speeds and it keeps up - why? Because my batteries are charged and the rest of my truck is operating as designed. Maybe my batteries are both in better health than those who have electrical errors.
If you think a snow plow doesn't draw power - take a look at the big cables involved (with a 200 amp fuse just for the hydraulic motor itself)
Don't tell me these can't handle a load, even at idle.
If someone has lights that cause a problem, their lights and/or truck has a problem, not the design of the system itself.

Update: I started the truck this morning and the check engine light did not come on.
Do you have tow package or aux package? If you don't have either of them, the JT comes equipped with standard alternator (220 Amps). But if you do have either of them, it comes with a heavy duty alternator (240 Amps). But it would be interesting to see what the MIL code is about.

Appears to me he got the factory aux switch package - meaning the larger battery and alternator.
At least he didn't mention that he installed the aux switch he connected to.......

I have the factory aux and tow package. I hooked the ground into the supplied ground points by the battery/fusebox.
My light went out eventually, but it’s odd that it happens, I see a lot of reports on this forum and other forum about the exact same thing

Odd - I've use my switches for the winch solenoid, my backup lights and for powering the 12 volt outlet and USB charging I installed in the bed - no issues.
Granted, that's not the same as lighting pulling who knows how many amps and so on, but still - there's about 3 amps or so for the winch cutoff solenoid coil. Not sure what the initial surge would be.

Theory talk -
The aux switches power things through RELAYS - meaning through a pair of contacts in a relay, not directly from anything. They shouldn't care a bit what's connected because a relay totally isolates the load from the switches and thus the BCM and any network.

Any update on this? I did the same thing and got the same check engine light
I had this happen last week when I was removing everything from mine to trade it in. The light cleared after a few start cycles.
