The NSG370 6 speed manual used in TJs and JKs is a Mercedes trans.

Yeah, I could have gone on....... LOL
On the other hand, it made some things tough because some of the Jeeps of that era used non-standard 'controllers' - ABS was a real b!tch - no standard reader could give any specifics, some things were proprietary. I never did find anyone that could read the ABS on my other Jeep before I sold it. The buyer didn't give a rip, he'd deal with it.

I think you are talking about Chrysler taking over the no-cash AMC, raping, pillaging, promising business as usual, telling all of the AMC employees, don't worry - you all have jobs it's just a new owner - then firing all but a few engineers and designers, ordering all sheet metal and some other parts to be crushed and trashed and scrapped - even telling dealership to dump parts, grabbing Grand Cherokee and taking it as his own, keeping Jeep and trashing everything else. Oh, they kept the new engine designs AMC was working on and some of that ended up being Magnum.......

Chrysler would likely be "no more" if not for Daimler - it was a win-win for them. They got superior Jeep tech and body design know-how from the AMC days (AMC created the unibody 4x4 in the U.S.) and Jeep got some new suspension and steering designs, electronics and so on.

Renault is well-known for coming in, sucking all the cash out, and dropping their host like a black widow.
