Ok took the plunge and ordered the JL Audio Stealthbox and i’m looking for suggestions on an affordable amp to go with it. I’m not spending 1500.00 on that 5i/1000 or whatever that’s insane. I already have the new soundbar upgrade installed i don’t want to spend a ton on an amp any suggestions would be great thanks!

Just the sub i guess i’m new to all this audio installation jargon and dudes at the install store told me about the box and that i’d need an amp which i could buy there of course but i’d like to shop around i just don’t know the terminology or technical info on these things. I can see them just trying to screw me over cause i’m a girl and don’t know my shit lol.

A cheap Rockford prime series mono amp will do just fine. I’ve had one now that’s been in two previous cars now will find it’s way into the Jeep shortly.

Check the specs on the subwoofer, you can pair and amp by the rms rating as well as what ohms the subwoofer is stable at. If your looking to just power your woofer, a mono block is the way to go.

“This Stealthbox® includes two down-firing 10TW1-4 10" 4-ohm subwoofers from JL Audio wired for 2-ohm total impedence.”. My question after reading this, as i’m just learning about audio systems, can they be wired for 4-ohm if the factory wired them for only 2-ohm since their actually 4-ohm anyway?? Forgive my terminology here i’m still learning the ropes on car audio systems lol. I don’t get why it has 4 ohm but wired only as 2-ohm?? Any input here would be appreciated thanks to all.

Look for a mono amp that is 500-600watts rms @ 2ohms. This will get you the most power/price for the speakers. You could re-wire the speakers and pull 4ohms on 2 channels but the amp would need to be bigger in order to product the same power. Check out crutchfiels help section, they have a ton of articles on sub/amp vs. ohms/watts.

Two 4 ohm speakers wired in parallel (plus of both speakers connected together and minus of both speakers connected) equals 2 ohms.
You could series them for 8 ohms so it just depends on the rating of the amp.
