Aftermarket Seats?

I have searched for posts for others who have swapped seats both here and the JL forums and haven't found much. I haven't been a fan of the Gladiator seats from initial ownership. The shortness of the seat, the flatness of the seat, and the angle all come together to create for a poor driving experience, for me. I fabricated a set of seat drops before Desert Does It launched theirs, and they made a big difference. But now that I am driving my Gladiator daily I find the seats suck.

I am seriously considering swapping Recaro seats but wanted to get thoughts from others who have investigated this, decided not to do it, or who haven't pulled the trigger due to lack of seat brackets. Recaro has a few aftermarket seat models with airbags available in Germany but I am currently thinking about airbag-less models.

My issue is the aftermarket seat brackets do not offer height adjustment so I am contemplating designing/fabricating new brackets that slide and adjust in height.

Are seat brackets holding anyone else back from aftermarket seats?

Aftermarket seats don't have air bags. If you want a seat that supports and holds you in place. Take a look at Brides. They're not cheap. Here's a bunch of brackets.

I don't like long trips in the JT. I agree that the seats are not comfortable. I ordered a set of Desert Does It seat jackers in hopes that some rear tilt will help.

I've been looking at aftermarket seats as well.

The side air bags are the catch.

The only Recaro that has an air bag is the Cross Sportster CS. Vivid Racing shows the seat without the airbag option for $2450.00. You have to order the airbag with the seat.

Recaro ergomed ES SAB $4,### and I think the orthoped is available with airbag but rare. I'm looking at the ergomed and orthoped.

You should look into Scheel-Mann Vario. Popular with the Overland Crowd. Comparable in price to Recaro, but seems to be the best at adjustability. That was my original plan, but after some inquiry it turns out I would have to go all the way to California to have an authorized shop to install. Along with me finding out about the airbags in the factory seats, I just gave up.

I used the adjustable set....1 plate for .75". Night and day.

A few weeks ago I ordered a set of Recaro Cs Cross Sportster seats with airbags. They ‘ll be custom made with extra stitching to match the rear seats and silver contour stitching to match the complete interior. The frames will be delivered by Recaro to. Those seats are lower than the oem seats, but can be raised with spacers. Normally they should arrive in about a week or 4. As soon as they are installed I’ll post some pics.
