Today the wife and I dropped into Anchorage REI and picked up an open box 7 gallon Yakima Roadshower. I came up with my own mounting setup and got it on the rig. You can move the entire truck by pushing/pulling on the tank. It's not the sexiest mount, but it'll work. This puts us over 10 gallons of incidental water which is more than enough this coming season. Happy to find what we can within Alaska and for a good deal:

Dudeā€¦itā€™s like youā€™re reading my mind with this build!!

What parts did you use for this?! Explain this to me like Iā€™m 2.

Apparently as a parent, my IQ matches the age of my kidā€¦.

šŸ˜‚ I would be happy to.

The water tank came with the carriage bolts that fit it. Those are the bolts that have the squared neck on them to keep them from spinning once slid into bottom of the tank. I purchased some thick aluminum stock from Lowes. I believe it was about 4 feet long and somewhere about 1/2" thick. The idea was to cut the aluminum to length to bolt to the tank and also leave enough length so that all thread could suspend it.

The aluminum length I came up with was 10". So I cut 4 lengths of 10" to sandwich the tank.

The all threads are either 7/16 or 1/2". Either would work. I got the longest length Lowes had and used those to suspend the tank. You can cut them to length.

The order goes: nut on top of the all thread, then the bed rack, then another nut to pinch the rack. Then another nut and one of the aluminum lengths. Now another nut. Now the tank with two of the 4 aluminum lengths bolted to it and a nut after that to pinch it.

I am typing on my phone at work and feel I may do a better job typing this out on the computer. I'll try that over the weekend if the above isn't helpful.

This is perfect. Thank you so much!!

I also have the road shower but needed a way to mount it as my RTT takes up all the room on the bed rack.

Iā€™ve been racking my brain to figure out a way to mount it: extruded aluminum off the bedrails, bed mounted cross rails, even cutting down the road shower itselfā€¦

This saves me a great deal of headache. My 2 yr old and I thank you!!

..and we're back! Our trip to the lower 48 went well and we really enjoyed seeing friends and family - although we worked every day to save up our vacation time for jeep exploring. šŸ˜

While we were gone, we had some shipments come in that I'm excited to share.

First and super easy to install are the ThinSkinz door cover panels.

Our used Jeep already has some panel claw marks but these will prevent any future damage:

I was going to hint around at it, but I'm just too excited! Yesterday the wife and I ran down to Anchorage to pick up our roof top tent that came in at REI. We got it home in the back of the F-150 and then needed to finish prepping the rack:

I picked up 60" HD Yakima Load Bars to hold the tent:

I got them installed and they are the perfect width for aesthetics and function:

Did a little inspection of the shoe rack:

After that I needed to come up with a way for my wife and I to slide the tent on the roof. It got a little sketchy, but not too bad in the end:

I'm pleased to say the iKamper Skycamp 3.0 Mini is perfect for a couple 5'7" adults, an 8lb dog, and a 50lb dog. IT ALSO FITS IN THE GARAGE!!!! What a win. The sunrise wasn't too bad either:

We wrapped up our laundry room remodel today. With that behind us, it's back to the Jeep! šŸ„³

Additional lighting came today. Of course we stuck with KC HiLites. Flex Era 1s for the chase lights and C2 flood lights for the rack lighting. I have amber covers on the way for the chase lights.

Mounted but not wired (that will be a day soon) :

You may have noticed the locks on the fuelpax. I wanted a way to secure them. Gorilla Clamp offers locks that with a little modification ended up working perfectly:

PXL_20230402_070709497.jpg

They just weren't wide enough, but an easy fix:

PXL_20230402_141637322.jpg

And to stop the jingle, I added rubber to the back of the locks:

As things are arriving, we're getting them installed. The annex for the roof top tent came recently. We haven't test fit it, but this will play a major role in our comfort and protection from mosquitoes šŸ¦Ÿ

Tonight the front shackles and the rear shock skids came in. The wife wanted blue shackles, so here they are:
