I'm considering purchasing a new Gladiator which has the Falken Mud Terrain tires on it.

I really don't need the M/T tires and would prefer to have a regular All Terrain tire, so I'm considering replacing the M/T tires immediately.

This vehicle will be a daily street driver with some occasional off-roading trips, so I'm primarily concerned with ride quality and performance in wet / snowy conditions.

I don't really want to buy new wheels unless there is a really strong argument for doing so.

What's the general consensus for the best A/T tires that will work on the stock wheels?

There are a lot of choices in AT tires. If there was a consensus, the choices would cease to exist. That said, the standard Rubicon Falken ATs are highly regarded. Someone might swap with you.

My JTR came with the Falken ATs and they've been good so far. They've been in the deserts here in Anza Borrego, in some ice/snow in Rocky Mountain NP and some dirt in Moab and across the US and back - sand, dirt, snow, ice, mud, rain they've been good.

Up until these tires that came with the JTR I've always purchased BFG ATs or BFG MTs and neither of those have ever let me down. I've been using those two choices since the early 90s.

Have you driven a Gladiator with the Falken M/T? As soon as you leave the lot you will own 4 used tires that you don't want anymore. Seems like a substantial waste of money to me.

The Falken M/T's are a very smooth driving tire. I would give them a chance before losing that kind of money.

I have enjoyed the General Grabber ATX's so far. Lots of choices out there and you'll get votes for most of them..
Good luck and congrats on your purchase

Thanks for the responses!

I was planning to sell the stock M/T tires if the dealer won't trade me for them. I've heard good things about the stock Falken A/T tires, so I'm certainly up for giving them a try.

We had BFG KO2's on our JKU Rubicon and liked them a lot.

I've had two sets of the General Grabber ATX's on my current truck, a Ford F-350 and I liked them a lot.

My primary concern with the stock M/T tires is that I'm pretty sure I'd be giving up some wet/snow performance (which is very valuable to me here in Colorado) for mud performance that I would rarely use.

BFG AT KO2’s IMOP are one of the best AT tires you can buy. Quiet long wear on the street (I’ve gotten 60,000 miles out of them before). They are great off road as well unless it’s a lot of thick mud.

My BFG MT’s on a JKUHR were so loud at 20,000 miles I changed to the KO2’s.

I really really wanted the Toyo Open country AT3's, but couldn't find any in stock in the size I wanted
so I ended up with a hybrid tire the Yokohama geolander X-at !

You're absolutely correct. I ran the Grabber X3 red letter in 35's on my fullsize Ram (that I traded in for the gladiator) and while they were great in the muddy cornfield and wheat fields for waterfowl hunting and deer hunting, they had not so nice road manners in the slushy snowy pavement intersections and wet raining roads. The hemi had no problem braking them loose. I'm in Michigan and the ATX's were both at home this past hunting season and so much better in the wet / slushy snow daily driving this winter. Obvioulsy in the deep gooey fields, you had to get them spinning to self clean, but I am sold on them for sure
I will say for the X3's, I got 46K miles out of them with plenty of tread left when I made the switch to the Gladiator.
